Introduction
Master in design
About the master's program in design
We are looking for you who have an open mind and are interested in design as a tool for change, wonder, immersion and investigation. It is in the unconventional, curious and unpredictable that we find the way to the expanded importance of the design subject in culture, society and business. A new designer role will help set the agenda for societal development.
In our two-year, interdisciplinary study program in the design fields of visual communication and furniture and room design / interior architecture, you develop and immerse yourself in a self-chosen project. In the application, you describe the project you want to work on.
The master's project is developed through an open and dynamic process, with emphasis on research, experimentation and critical reflection - in discussions and collaboration with fellow students and faculty. You become part of a stimulating professional environment that works across established professional boundaries.
Your everyday life will consist of independent work and work in small groups, in addition to lectures, courses and workshops. The Department of Design has small master's cohorts that provide close contact between academic staff and students. We also invite international capacities to hold lectures and workshops.
In our many workshops you will be able to develop prototypes and models. A wide range of external partners provide opportunities for the development and testing of new ideas - and at the same time provide an understanding of society's rapid development.
The master's program in design is an international study program. The language of instruction is English and the students represent different nationalities. As a master's student, you have good opportunities to travel on exchange, also to foreign institutions. The exchange stay is considered part of the study and is highly recommended.
The study ends with a major public exhibition.
