Introduction
The Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs is New York City’s only public graduate school dedicated to public affairs. We offer undergraduate and graduate-level degrees in public policy and administration, and Master of Science in Education (MSEd) program in Higher Education Administration (MSEd-HEA), and a Master of International Affairs (MIA) degree program.
The Marxe School provides students with the opportunity to prepare directly for that post-graduate life while still in school. Many of our students collaborate with faculty as research assistants, extending knowledge boundaries as they master sophisticated analytic tools. Students are strongly encouraged to spend time studying out of New York through School-sponsored programs ranging from two weeks to a full semester. We have academic partnerships on five continents and a thriving Washington Semester to introduce students to life in the nation’s capital. Many of our students intern locally for some of the world’s leading nonprofits, international NGOs, hospitals, schools, and governmental institutions.
We draw upon one of the largest public affairs faculty in the nation, and we apply an interdisciplinary approach to teaching, research, and professional development.
The School retains and runs five renowned research centres and institutions that produce critical reports, survey results, and data on various topics relevant to public policy.
The Marxe School’s faculty is among the largest and most globally diverse in the country. Accomplished and widely recognized in their fields, each member brings a wealth of experience in advising or leading cabinet-level agencies, political leaders, major health, nonprofit, or government organizations worldwide. They are here to help you grow personally and professionally while addressing today’s most pressing public policy challenges and providing guidance on coursework, development opportunities, and careers.
