Ba Ria - Vung Tau University is located in the coastal Vung Tau city of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, which is the gateway to the East Sea of the provinces in the Southeast and the center of economy, finance, culture, tourism, transport and education of the South East and convenient connection with Ho Chi Minh City and other surrounding provinces by land, air, waterway and railway. Owning many beautiful beaches and well-equipped infrastructure, Vung Tau City is a well-known tourist destination in the South and a logistics area of Vietnam's oil and gas industry.Ba Ria - Vung Tau University is the only university in Vung Tau city, which is a training institution to provide multidisciplinary human resources for Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, neighboring provinces as well as the whole country. BVU is also a scientific research center of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, where research projects on the application and transferring of advanced science and technology have been carried out and applied in society and production.
BVU now has 3 campuses located in the center of Vung Tau(Campus 1 – 80 Truong Cong Dinh, ward 3; Campus 2 – 01 Truong Van Bang, ward 7; Campus 3 – 951 Binh Gia, ward 9, Vung Tau City)which provide the classrooms, experiment laboratories, and playgrounds for more than 7,000 students.
The university's dormitory is located on 8-10 Tran Nguyen Han, ward 1, Vung Tau City to accommodate students from other provinces. From 2006 up to now, the university continues to invest in re-construction and renovation of infrastructures, libraries, and laboratories; provide modern equipment for teaching, learning and research activities. Currently, the university has over 30 practice rooms, including 11 computer labs, 20 experiment labs. In the future, Nguyen Hoang Group will invest in the construction of lecture buildings, laboratories, stadiums, amusement parks for students, and particularly the superior dormitory accommodating up to 3,000 students.

Completed scientific research projects: A total of 75 projects, including 01 Ministerial level project; 01 Provincial level project; 27 University level projects by teachers and 46 projects by students
