Introduction
Objectives
The master program focusses on the development of software development competences – for industry-oriented practitioners and industrial researchers, focusing on skills for working in novel or emerging paradigms with state-of-the-art technologies, and, respectively, scientific research competencies – for those aiming to pursue a doctoral degree or a research-oriented career in either academy or industry, the emphasis is placed on how to organize a scientific research effort, covering methodologies, literature analysis and dissemination guidance on the topics addressed by the program.
Contents and structure
The curriculum consists of three topical tracks and one research-oriented meta-track. The Business Modeling Track includes topics regarding the management and analysis of business processes within an enterprise context, with the help of various modeling tools, languages and methods, the Distributed Computing Track develops skills for working with Cloud and High-Performance environments, including Parallel Programming (for these topics, students have access to the highest performance computing cluster in a Romanian university), while the Web Content and Analysis Track investigates state-of-the-art methods for Big Data Analytics, Web Mining, and Natural Language Processing. The Meta-Track covers best practices for organizing and communicating scientific results, as well as simulated experience with research projects. All three topical tracks are mandatory and run in parallel during the first three semesters, while the Meta-Track is followed during the first and last semester.
International perspectives
The students will develop familiarity with novel technologies and English-language contents, presentation styles, and international practices in tackling highly actual research challenges and presenting research results. Consequently, their immersion in international teams will be significantly eased, with a leaner learning curve. Also, contacts have been established with international partners supporting the program with technological enablers, experience-based practices, curricular contents as well as events (e.g., summer schools) related to the studied topics. Examples of such partners are The Open Models Initiative Laboratory at the University of Vienna, Cardiff University, Technical University of Eindhoven, INRIA Lyon.

Career Opportunities
Career perspectives
With respect to scientific competencies, students will be prepared for the type of work that is expected during Ph.D. programs and research projects, graduates being prepared for the opportunities, and open positions provided by both academic and industrial research projects. With respect to software development, bachelor-level competences are extended for different types of positions such as business analysts, programmers, software designers, software consultants, network administrators, and Web programmers.
