Introduction

Master in Mathematics, Economics, and Statistics (MMES)

The structure of our MMES program is nearly identical to that of the first two years of a North American doctoral program in Economics. It combines advanced training in quantitative methods with a strong foundation in economic theory and research design. Students who successfully complete the MMES program are well-positioned to complete doctoral-level studies in economics in North America or Europe.

MMES graduates also go on to work as research assistants field-based economic studies and in evaluation roles in the public sector, at international agencies, and in NGOs. Students have the opportunity to participate in research conducted by ASE’s Institute for Empirical Research in Political Economy. This is an empirically oriented program designed for students and mid-career professionals with a bachelor degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Economics, although other students with strong quantitative skills could also be successful in the program. This program offers three sub-fields: Econometric Theory, Econometrics, and Applied Economics.
