Introduction

The Master of Professional Accountancy, accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), consists of 36 credit hours designed to heighten your broad-based business knowledge to meet employers' expectations while satisfying the new CPA licensing requirements.

As an accounting professional, the bottom line among prospective employers and clients is your proven proficiency - in technical knowledge, critical thinking ability and communication skills. Angelo State University provides these competencies through two avenues for earning an MPAc. Students who have already received a bachelor's degree enroll in the regular MPAc program, while outstanding undergraduate accounting students may enroll in the Integrated BBA/MPAc program.

Accounting Program Requirments

MPAc Program:

  • A four-year baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with an overall undergraduate grade-point average (GPA) of 2.5 (including all grades on repeated courses) or a GPA of at least 3.0 in the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate work (including all grades on repeated courses).
  • 27 hours of undergraduate work: Principles of Accounting I and II, Intermediate Accounting I and II (GPA average of the two previously listed courses has to be 2.5 or greater), Cost Accounting, Individual Income Tax, Advanced Accounting I and II, Auditing, Business Statistics, Business Law, Micro-economics, Business Computer Applications, Business Math II or Calculus I, and Financial Mgt.
  • The Graduate Management Admission Exam (GMAT)
  • An application essay of no more than 500 words
  • A minimum score of 1050 from the formula: (undergraduate GPA) x 200 + GMAT.

BBA/MPAc Integrated Program, for admission to senior-graduate status, an applicant must :

  • Be an undergraduate accounting major with a minimum of 90 sch of undergraduate credit with an overall GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Have a minimum 2.5 GPA in Intermediate Accounting I and II, with no grade lower than "C"
  • Take the Graduate Management Admission Exam (GMAT)
  • An application essay of no more than 500 words
  • Have a minimum score of 1050 from the formula: (undergraduate GPA) x 200 + GMAT.
