AMD Akademie Mode & Design
Introduction
The AMD Akademie Mode & Design offers internationally certified training programs in fashion, design, media, communication, and management. Promoting and supporting creative as well as business-oriented youth remains an essential strategic focus of the AMD Akademie Mode & Design for over 30 years of its dedicated educational activities. We educate flexible and open-minded specialists with expertise and know-how but also the capability for an interdisciplinary and holistic approach for the international creative industries.
AMD stands for innovation, interdisciplinary approach, quality in teaching and research, practical relevance and individual career development. The Academy has five campuses in the significant German creative locations Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Munich, Berlin and Wiesbaden.
The Department for higher education at the Academy has been merged with the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences and has become the Department of Design, an educational unit for the AMD School of Fashion and AMD School of Design.
The AMD uses its international network. The intensive collaborations and practical projects with international fashion specialists, designers, scientists and brand chief executives enable a learning opportunity on the highest quality standard for over 30 years.
Insights into the industry as well as a practical semester form informative and exciting aspects. Well-known companies are for example Calvin Klein, hessnatur, Peek &Cloppenburg, Marc O’Polo, Walt Disney and many more.
Since 2016 the AMD is a regular member of the International Foundation of Fashion Technology (IFFTI) and is, therefore, part of a global network of leading educational institutions of the fashion industry in the field of design, technics, and fashion.
Over 5.000 alumni were already educated by AMD. The graduates successfully went into business for themselves or are working for notable brands like Alexander McQueen, Hermes, Vogue, InStyle, Cosmopolitan, Porsche, and Zalando.

The AMD possesses numerous partnerships with well-respected international universities like the Berkeley College in New York / USA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan / Italy, European College of Business and Management (ECBM) in London / United Kingdom, London College of Fashion (LCF) in London / United Kingdom, Vancouver Island University in Vancouver / Canada, Beijing Normal University in Zhuhai / China, Hongik University in Seoul / South Korea, Universiteit Antwerpen in Antwerp / Belgium, Hogeschool Gent, School of Arts (KASK) in Gent / Belgium and the New Design University (ND) in St. Pölten / Austria.
The AMD also participates in the Erasmus+ programme and in this context, provides attractive sponsorship opportunities for internships and semesters abroad within the EU.
