Study in Hungary

Higher Education in Hungary
Hungary has always been an educated area of Europe. One of the first universities in the region was that of Vesprem, which was built in 1276. The country is also home to the world's Institute of Technology, founded in 1735. Today the country remains an important area for development and higher education. It is most well known for its mathematics education programs. Many of these programs have produced leading scientists, with 13 of these people earning a Nobel Prize.

In Hungary, students begin education at the age of three and continue through to vocational school (which can begin as early as Grade 9), special vocational training schools, and general secondary school. From there, students can move on to college and university.

College is a type of grade education program since most students obtain their vocational education in what would be secondary school in other countries. A vocational secondary school is also available after the initial years.

College graduate education offers training in specialized programs. It also includes graduate education and Master-level degree programs in a variety of fields. The university is reserved for those obtaining Ph.D. level education, doing research work, working towards dissertation DLA, doctoral degrees, and other higher-level specialized education. College education lasts four years, though some fields may be longer.

About Hungary

Most of Hungary is a fertile, rolling plain lying east of the Danube River and drained by the Danube and Tisza Rivers. In the extreme northwest is the Little Hungarian Plain. Since 1989, Hungary has been a democratic parliamentary republic, and today it is considered a developed country with a high-income economy. Hungary is one of the thirty most popular tourist destinations in the world, attracting 10.2 million tourists a year (2011).

Hungary is located in Central Europe. The country's capital of Budapest is also its largest city. Hungary is bordered by Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Slovenia, Austria, and Serbia. Most people speak Hungarian, though many also speak English in the capital city.

Though once a world power, the country has become less political and more of a tourism base in recent years. It is one of the 30 most visited areas in the world, with more than 10 million people visiting annually. It also has the second-largest thermal lake in the world. This high-income economic country has plenty to offer those who wish to study overseas.

If you visit Pecs, which is a southern area of the country, you will enjoy more of a Mediterranean climate.
