Scholarships are a great way to make your studies more affordable, enabling you to concentrate on your academic program without the added stress of tuition and living expenses.

Here's a list of scholarships you can apply for if you'd like to get a Master's in the US as an international student:

University scholarships

  • Dean’s Graduate Award - New York University recognizes outstanding international students and provides financial assistance to support their Master's degree studies (four scholarships of $35,000)
  • UCLA Anderson Fellowship - University of California (UCLA scholarships which helps to offset the cost of tuition and provides valuable financial support)
  • Knight-Hennessy Scholarship - Stanford University (scholars receive a fellowship for up to three years of tuition, depending upon their degree length. In addition, scholars receive a stipend for living and academic expenses)
  • University of New Haven Scholarship - University of New Haven (50% of tuition fee)
  • University of Memphis Scholarship - University of Memphis fully funded master’s programs for international students

Scholarships funded by governmental bodies and external organizations

  • The Fulbright Scholar Program - Scholarship program providing various types of financial support to U.S. and non-US “visiting” scholars. The program is funded by the government of the United States
  • Peace Fellowship - Rotary International sponsors fellowships for international students pursuing Master's degrees in fields related to peace and conflict resolution
  • American Association of University Women (AAUW) International Fellowship - Provides financial support to international women pursuing Master's degrees (up to $50,000)

Major-specific scholarships

  • Society of Women Engineers Scholarship - SWE offers scholarships to female international students studying engineering or computer science (over 300 scholarships valued at over $1,700,000)
  • National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program - NSF provides fellowships to exceptional graduate students in STEM fields, recognizing their research potential and providing financial support (The five-year fellowship provides three years of financial support inclusive of an annual stipend of $37,000)
  • GEM Fellowship Program - GEM offers scholarships to underrepresented minority students pursuing Master's degrees in STEM fields, aiming to increase diversity and inclusion in these areas. (Full tuition and fees; minimum $16,000 total stipend over the entire Master’s program)
  • SMART Scholarship - The SMART program supports international students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields (Full tuition and education-related educational expenses; it also includes a stipend paid at a rate of $30,000 - $46,000 a year depending on degree level)

Privately funded scholarships

  • Gates Cambridge Scholarships - Funded by the Gates Foundation, these scholarships cover tuition fees, living expenses, and additional support for outstanding international students pursuing graduate studies at the University of Cambridge
  • Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Scholarship - The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation provides scholarships to high-achieving international students (up to $150,000, with a $75,000 annual scholarship cap)
  • P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship (IPS) - IPS supports international women pursuing graduate degrees in the USA, covering tuition fees and offering additional financial assistance to enable their educational aspirations
  • The Google Lime Scholarship Program - In collaboration with Lime Connect, Google offers scholarships to students with disabilities pursuing degrees in computer science or related fields, promoting inclusivity and diversity in the tech industry
