MoPA Advanced Study Cycle 2
2 years / 4 semesters
Prerequisite: undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in the field. Skills/knowledge of Maya
Admission: interview, portfolio, technical tests to evaluate skills & techniques in the field of animation
WHAT YOU LEARN: Advanced skills development and professionalization
Advanced Study Cycle: Year 1
New technical skills specific to the choice of each student in animation & image. Short film projects in a team that help you master the technical tools and prepare for the fifth year.
Real-world, hands-on training in:
- production methodology
- story development
- character animation
- facial animation
- quadruped animation
- advanced lighting techniques
Perfect your skills in ZBrush, Maya, After Effects, Unity, and Houdini...
Conferences and hands-on workshops in subjects such as directing, character design, concept art, sculpture, environmental design, 3D sculpting
Concept and story development sessions with professional screenwriters who guide students towards their final year projects graduation films.
Advanced Study Cycle: Year 2
- Pitch your film idea and get your team together.
- Develop your story, design the characters, decide on the artistic direction, model and rig your characters...use VFX and apply all your artistic and technical skills.
- Master the entire film production pipeline.
This year you’ll make a CG animated short film that allows you to develop and perfect your chosen specialization. Create your own world and breathe life into your characters.

A state-accredited advanced diploma
Successful completion of the two-year study course is awarded a French state-accredited, European Level 7, Level 1 advanced 5-year diploma (Diplôme de niveau Bac +5 de "concepteur et réalisateur 3D" by the Commission Nationale de Certification Professionnelle. the French Professional Certification Commission.
Step 1: register online before the 3rd February 2019
Step 2: send your portfolio / 2D / 3D works to us and complete technical tests from February 4 to March 3 2019
Step 3: successful candidats have an interview, with results from March 31 to April 22, 2019
Technical tests may include:
- storyboard, visual storytelling
- environmental / props design (concept development with an imposed theme) aiming to evaluate your drawing and narrative skills
- 3D character modeling, texturing, poses
For overseas applicants, interviews take place by videoconference and your portfolio and technical tests are processed via email and file sharing.

MoPA is a member of the RECA, the French Animation School Network. The MoPA graduate recruitment rate in the animation field is close to 100%.
