Masters of Chemical Engineering with Entrepreneurship
"The first master program of Chemical Engineering with Entrepreneurship in Malaysia"
The Master of Chemical Engineering with Entrepreneurship program is designed to produce techno- and corporate-entrepreneur in the chemical related industry. Graduates of this program will be equipped with strong fundamental knowledge together with good management and technical skills required either for the establishment of new business venture and product commercialization or career advancement as a successful manager at private or public sectors, locally as well as internationally.
Students are required to complete 42 credits to be eligible for graduation. These credits consist of 30 credits from core subjects (five chemical engineering courses and five entrepreneurship-related courses), 6 credits from elective subjects and 6 credits from dissertation project.
Some modules in specific courses will be taught by experts from the industry. As for project dissertation, field supervisors will be appointed from industrial expertise.
Faculty of Chemical & Natural Resources Engineering
Faculty of Chemical & Natural Resources Engineering (FKKSA) of UMP was established in 2002 with the aim of providing engineering programs in the field of chemical and natural resources engineering. The faculty is also tasked to embark on research and development activities, particularly in the area of fine and specialty chemicals, chemical process up-scaling and biotechnology-related processes in order to generate expertise relevant to the needs of the industry.
In light of the establishment of the East Coast Economic Region (ECER), FKKSA is expected to play an important role as well as a reference center for chemical and biotechnology-related activities. It will also serve as a catalyst for the development of these activities through programs such as technology transfer, staff exchange, training, consultancy and other services relating to chemical and natural resources engineering.
Universiti Malaysia PAHANG
Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) was formerly known as Kolej Universiti Kejuruteraan & Teknologi Malaysia (KUKTEM). It was established by the Government of Malaysia on 16 February 2002. UMP was set up as a competency-based technical university that specializes in the fields of engineering and technology.
UMP is situated in the east coast state of Pahang, the biggest state in Peninsular Malaysia with vast areas of rainforest endowed with a wide range of biodiversity and natural resources. UMP focuses on two major areas: The Chemical, Petrochemical and Natural Resources Industry and the Manufacturing and Process Industry. The University currently operates on two campuses namely in Gambang and in Pekan. The Faculty of Chemical & Natural Resources Engineering is located on the Gambang campus in the industrial estate of Gambang, 30 km west of the capital city of Kuantan. Connected by the East Coast Expressway, the University is only a two-and-half-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur.
For admission into the Master of Chemical Engineering with Entrepreneurship program, applicants must have at least a
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Public Institution of Higher Learning (IPTA) or Private Institution of Higher Learning (IPTS) recognized by UMP Senate with CPA at least of 2.70; or
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science from Public Institution of Higher Learning (IPTA) or Private Institution of Higher Learning (IPTS) recognized by UMP Senate with minimum 3 years working experience especially related to chemical or petrochemical industry.
- English requirement is IELTS 5 or TOEFL 500 or MUET 3.
