Overview

Study programme offers in-depth studies of international economic relations, paying special attention to the theoretical and applied problems of international economics and economic diplomacy.

Graduates’ comprehensive interdisciplinary knowledge of the European Union, diplomatic skills, analytical skills, and in-depth economic skills will provide solid basis for their work in different institutions of the European Union, international organisations, as well as in the national public and private sectors. Students are trained for analytical and managerial positions in the economic, political and social fields, for diplomatic work, for economic lobbying activities at the European Union level, and for further education in doctoral studies programmes leading to an academic career.

The programme provides studies in international environment of lingual and cultural diversity by attracting both international students, lecturers and experts. Studies are conducted in English. Students go on study trip to European Union and NATO institutions in Brussels, Frankfurt and Luxembourg.

Programme structure

The study program will be implemented mainly in the framework of of lectures and seminars, including workshops and research seminars. European Studies and Economic Diplomacy Master’s Program provides students with the opportunity to take part in study visit to the main institutions of the European Union in Brussels, Frankfurt and Luxembourg.

Entry qualification

Undergraduate diploma (or higher)

Academic or professional Bachelor`s degree in economics or management science.

Academic or professional Bachelor`s degree in other Social Sciences or Natural Sciences or Humanities and considerable work experience in the economic industry that includes appropriate preliminary knowledge.

The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Latvian.

Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original.

Applicants must upload education documents in original language, as well as translations into English. Diplomas and transcripts issued outside EU must be legalized with a legalization stamp or Apostille.

You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university.

Language requirements

English

Applicants must prove their English language knowledge. University accepts the following international language tests:

  • TOEFL IBT – at least score 80;
  • IELTS – at least score 6;
  • CPE – satisfactory pass;
  • CAE – satisfactory pass.

University can provide English language test for additional payment (97.50 EUR)

Applicants whose native language is English or previous education is obtained in English are exempt from this requirement (except citizens of India, Sri Lanka, Nepal).

A motivation letter must be added to your application.

The applicant is required to submit CV.

For citizens of India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan – Skype interview which includes questions about motivation
