Master's in Design of Commercial Spaces and Visual Merchandising
The Master's in the Design of Commercial Spaces and Visual Merchandising (60 ECTS) is obtained by completing two postgraduate degrees, for 30 ECTS each. These postgraduate degrees may be completed in the same academic year, or in different years. All postgraduate courses that are part of a master's degree can be taken independently.
Commercial spaces are currently the scene of a social activity on which a considerable part of the economy rests: the consumer society. The products we consume travel a long way before they reach our hands. Manufacturers, distributors, businessmen, marketing procedures, etc., are involved in this process. However, the space in which consumer products are brought together is also an important area for a corporate image, and the responsibility for this falls on the interior designer who designs this setting.
Designers of interior spaces should no longer limit their concerns to the construction conditions of the space and the location in order to optimize and make the most of the resources that have been invested in the premises. The characteristics of the product and the consumer to whom it is aimed, the business model that comes from the commercial space itself, the marketing used for the positioning of the product and the point of sale have become parameters of significant relevance during the design process that this postgraduate course deals with.
Unlike the postgraduate course on Visual Merchandising, whose purpose is to define the discipline of the professional in charge of managing the point of sale, the postgraduate course in Design of Commercial Spaces establishes the scope of the work of the designer of interior spaces in the specific terms of the design methods, where commercial spaces are regarded as a specific type of interior design.
GENERAL AIMS OF THE TRAINING
The purpose of this postgraduate course is to make an extensive study of commercial spaces and all the parameters that currently influence the process of creating a point of sale design: from Retail Marketing strategies to the demands of actually producing the design.
This postgraduate course is organised in 3 modules and is completed upon handing in the Final Project.

Qualification: Postgraduate Degree in Commercial Spaces Design accredited by the Universidad de Vic-UCC. Students without university degrees will receive a University Extension Studies Diploma.

Access: Graduates. Undergraduate degrees in Fine Arts and Design, and those related to the following professional categories: interior design, graphic design, industrial design and arts applied to clothing. Professionals from the sector without specific training but who can demonstrate professional expertise. Applicants will undergo a selection process for acceptance on the course.
Observations: Intensive Spanish course for foreign students willing to apply for the Master degree (optional course). From Sept. 10th to October, 2nd; from Monday to Friday (4h/day) – 395€.
