The designer of accessories is required to research, analyse and interpret fashion trends, to correctly insert a collection of accessories within a contemporary stylistic landscape. This training simulates the path of industry, research of materials and trends, the study of new trends, designing & experimentation, technical development to final product and its communication.

At the end of the training – conducted in collaboration with FENDI – students will be able to pursue a professional career in a creative studio, researching trends, developing products or office-office-style, and filling various professional roles that exist in the fashion industry, from designers to product manager as well as designing for their own business.

The First Level Master’s degree in Accessory Design aims to instil organizational skills form both a design and operational perspective, essential characteristics for a professional figure able to effectively resolve issues within productive laboratories with an understanding of the creative potential and the possibilities for implementation of projects. This course is fully recognized by the Italian Ministry as a Master’s of the first level with 60 credits (CFA/ECTS).

Professional Opportunities

This Master’s Course simulates the industry path, essential research for materials and trends, the development of new trends, market understanding, designing, technical developments and experimentations to the communication of the specialised product.

Students at the end of the training will be able to pursue a professional career as part of a team in a creative fashion accessory design studio as a designer, researcher or involved in product development.

To Whom

This Master’s course is aimed at those who have successfully completed a recognised first degree, in a subject area relevant to this course, and wish to study with the aim to seriously focus on a career towards costume design:

  • Students who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in Artistic / Design or a subject area linked to the Master’s Course: YES.
  • Humanistic and Liberal Arts degree students who have successfully completed an undergraduate course not linked to the specialist area of the Master’s: YES, if accepted by the Course Committee.
  • Industry Professionals of the sector and students who have not completed a recognised undergraduate degree but private courses within the subject area of the course: YES, if accepted by the Course Committee and will only be eligible to receive a certificate of participation.

Educational Approach

Theoretical lessons, seminars, with experts in the field, practical workshops, guided tutorial support one to one and self-directed study, visits to industry production facilities, galleries and exhibitions make the course vibrant and relevant to the subject.

Due to demand and a closed number of places available (to maintain the quality at this high level of study) to gain access to the course it is required the successful completion of an admission assessment, interview and presentation of a Portfolio.

At the end of the Master the students will receive the I Level Academic Master’s Diploma given by the Accademia Costume & Moda and recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education.


The course duration is one academic year and attendance is mandatory however to be accepted at the final assessments students must have at least 80% proven attendance.

Enrolment Procedure

After having completed the information request on our website, the candidates will be contacted from the Information, Marketing and Orientation Office that will invite them for an interview. The interview can be taken on campus or via video conference and will be with the Coordinator of the MASTER Program.

The students will need to bring or send via email to the following information:

  • curriculum vitae
  • portfolio
  • motivational letter
  • previous academic curriculum – exams etc
  • Undergraduate Certificate / Diploma
  • A valid document (Passport)

For Non-European students, the Accademia will provide them with all the necessary assistance in order to apply for the student VISA.

Once passed the process, the student will receive all the documentation needed to finalise the procedure. The results will be communicated within 7 days from the day of the interview.
