How can environmental problems be assessed? How do companies and organisations work to prevent and solve environmental problems? How is control exercised over companies and individuals by public authorities?
From a fundamentally practical standpoint, in that change starts in the reality of today, our students are challenged to develop professional skills, knowledge and networks in close collaboration with the surrounding society.
The interdisciplinary Masters programme in Environmental Management and Policy aims to prepare students for a career in or with industry and public authorities. Subjects such as organisation and governance of companies, technical systems in companies and in society, environmental economics, environmental law, environmental policy and sustainable consumption are integrated. The programme is based on the focus on industry/organisations and policy/public authorities.
Basic Block, 30 credits. There are two different entry tracks to the programme:
- Web based, part time, October – June: This track is conducted online at half speed, which makes it possible to combine studies with other activities such as internships or work.
- Campus based, full time, January – June: For students who are required to study full time on campus due to scholarship or student loan requirements, an on-site coordinated track is available.
Advanced Block, 30 credits, August – December, requires full-time on campus presence in Lund. From this semester, there is a departure from the traditional division of courses by subject and the courses instead focus on problem areas.
Applied Block, 30 credits, January - May, requires full-time on campus presence in Lund. The second half of the programme focuses on application of knowledge, involving projects with external organisations and individual research.
Master Thesis Block, 30 credits, June - October. Graduation week with theses defenses takes place on campus in late September.
The programme opens the door to a wide range of careers in all spheres essential for real advancement of the environmental agenda. Our alumni work in industry, consultancy, government agencies, EU bodies, international organisations, environmental organsiations and academia.
