The Master’s Programme in Urban Studies and Planning (USP) prepares students to excel as professionals capable of understanding and addressing complex urban development challenges. We deliver comprehensive planning education at the Masters's level, with a particular focus on cities, their territorial environment, and their transformation. Worldwide, increasing urbanisation poses many environmental challenges: use of resources, production of waste, quality of air and water, energy demand, effects of climate change, health problems, and so on. The complexity of these urban environmental problems is substantial. In order to tackle them, we need expertise from different disciplines, with a focus on sustainability and (eco)technological innovation.

Environmental issues are complex. A systems perspective is required in order to understand today’s multidisciplinary environmental problems and to identify both long-term solutions and alternatives. The program focuses on environmental science and physical planning. It provides students with a systems perspective on environmental issues, focusing on planning processes, international and transboundary issues, and practical training in tools such as systems analysis.

The programme aims to: enhance existing construction-related professionals with the knowledge of urban design and regional planning; produce experts with comprehensive knowledge of urban design and regional planning; provide multi-disciplinary approach for architecture, civil engineering, urban design, urban planning, building services and construction professionals; etc.

The program's goal is to prepare leading specialists for planning and analysis in multifunctional forestry, who can take responsibility and make sustainable strategic decisions.
