Durango is the fourth largest state in Mexico. Nationally or internationally, it is famous for two reasons: one is being the "land of scorpions" and second is being the "land of cinema". Another notable thing in this state is the flourishing of art, literature and education. There are numerous high schools that provide quality education to both urban and rural areas.

Students who study urban development may be introduced to perspectives that come from a variety of different fields. These may include geography, public policy, urban planning, sociology, environmental studies, public service management and real estate.

Most of the government-funded universities in major cities (state capital) have short courses on history, gastronomy, and cultural subjects, and most of them are almost free.

A masters is earned after students complete an undergraduate degree program. To obtain a masters, you usually need to complete 12 to 18 college courses that often involve completing comprehensive tests and/or a thesis.
