As a student in Alverno's Master of Science in Nursing program, you will become a change agent to impact the health care disparities experienced by vulnerable populations, provide cutting-edge and cost-effective therapeutic interventions, address global health challenges through the strategic use of technology and science, cultivate transformative thinking and diagnostic reasoning, and lead practice-based changes grounded in scientific evidence. The Master of Science (MS) in Art Education is a 30-credit program with advanced work in art education and the studio arts. The MS with a major in art education offers two separate program options. Both options require applicants to have completed a bachelor’s degree in the visual arts or a related field and to be admitted to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Graduate School.

The Department of Anthropology offers programs of graduate study designed to provide a broad background in all significant facets of the discipline—biological as well as cultural, analytic as well as descriptive—while still encouraging specialization. It provides training both for students interested in an academic career in anthropology and for those concerned with practical issues approached from the integrative perspective of anthropology. The department, in cooperation with the Milwaukee Public Museum, also offers a program leading to a Certificate in Museum Studies. The Milwaukee Public Museum, the fourth largest natural history museum in the country, is the site for methods courses that provide the student practical experience in museum work and for courses in the history and theory of museum exhibits. Each student’s program of studies includes training in anthropological theory and methods, issues and problems in cultural anthropology, archaeology, anthropological linguistics and physical anthropology, as well as topics that focus on the student’s area of particular interest.

The engineering management program is best described as a master’s degree in business with a technological orientation. You’ll learn the tools needed to effectively manage and participate in the decision-making process while leveraging your technical background.

The MSE program’s major emphasis is on the further development of engineering knowledge and skills in an effort to enhance the productivity of the practicing engineer. The program provides a flexible platform for students to take either an integrated approach or a specialized approach to meet the demands of their careers.

The Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Department at Marquette University is pleased to announce the availability of 5 PhD Fellowships through the Department of Education Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) program. Applicants who demonstrate financial need and intend to pursue teaching and research careers in Water Infrastructure are invited to apply. Women and others from underrepresented groups in STEM disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply. GAANN Fellows receive a competitive stipend and funding to cover tuition costs. The Fellows will receive training and experience in both teaching and research. Fellowship start date should be January 2020 to January 2021.

Here are just some of our noteworthy accomplishments and avenues for future student learning. Our master’s degree in counseling programs include a variety of courses, practicum and training experiences that offer comprehensive preparation for professional practice as a counselor in various clinical and school settings. Training in counseling begins in the first semester, practicum usually begins in the second semester of the first year, and internships continue into the second year. The mission of the Marquette University Master of Arts in School Counseling and the Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs is to provide exemplary counselor education based upon the integration of professional counseling knowledge and practice. The program is designed to prepare counselors to be outstanding practitioners, leaders and advocates who are trained to meet the needs of diverse clients and students. Our programs use a developmental perspective that emphasizes growth and development, improving individuals' quality of life, and focusing on strengths and resources, in addition to psychological deficits and problems. The ability to diagnose and treat psychopathology is an essential skill in our graduates. Additionally, we emphasize prevention and the need for proactive systems interventions. For example, fighting poverty, racism and other destructive societal and community influences are more important in certain contexts than applying individualized counseling interventions.

Alverno College, a pioneer in music therapy for more than 70 years, continues to be a leader in this growing and rewarding field and is proud to offer Wisconsin's first Master of Music Therapy program. An Alverno Master of Music Therapy degree will give you an edge and prepare you for advanced practice in a variety of areas, including hospitals, hospice, mental health, and private practice settings. Electives make up 50 percent of this 36-credit program. The graduate program in music therapy at Alverno accepts students with a bachelor's degree or equivalency in music therapy from a regionally accredited institution and who are board-certified or an international equivalent.

The Master of Science in Biostatistics program provides an innovative curriculum to meet a range of professional needs and interests. The program trains students in study design, appropriate use of statistical and computational techniques, and interpretation of data analysis results arising from public health and biomedical research. Students learn both classical and modern statistical methods and apply their statistical skills and knowledge to solve "big data” problems. They have the opportunity to work with faculty on cutting edge research projects, such as discovering genetic causes of common diseases, developing statistical algorithms to monitor treatment efficacy, and reducing medical costs through electronic health records.

The Master of Science in New Product Management (MSNP) degree program provides students a framework to enhance an organization’s ability to effectively identify, develop, and deploy new products and services.

The department offers graduate programs leading to the master of science, master of engineering and doctor of philosophy degrees in mechanical engineering. Course work and research in the mechanical engineering graduate programs may involve the broad fundamentals of mechanical engineering or may concentrate on energy systems, manufacturing systems and mechanical systems. In these fields, engineering principles are applied not only to traditional equipment and methods but also modern and emerging technologies. Typically, the engineering course work and research are augmented by laboratory studies. Although the study of advanced engineering mathematics and, often, basic science is necessary in all programs of study, the selection of subjects may vary depending upon the field of specialization and the student’s professional objectives. We immerse individuals in an active environment to cultivate broadly educated mechanical engineers who balance theory with practice for advancing knowledge, solving problems and serving society.

Learn 100% online or blend in-person and online courses. In addition to our MA in Communication, we offer a MA in Corporate Communication in conjunction with the Graduate School of Management. This 30 credit-hour program combines business and economics course work in communication and advanced business courses to prepare you for an executive-level communication role.

Transition to Teaching with a MEd in STEM Teaching Marquette University's College of Education and Opus College of Engineering have been awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship to develop and implement a 14-month Master's Degree program for new science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) teachers. Applicants to this accelerated program, which started in the summer of 2018, must have a bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline. Inquiries can be made to Jennifer Gaul-Stout, the Noyce Scholar program coordinator. As a 30-credit program, students will take courses as a cohort over four sessions: a summer, fall and spring semester, and a second summer. During that time they will engage in teaching experiences based upon the co-operative education internship model used in engineering. This will allow them to apply their coursework and theory directly to teaching experiences in the classroom. Upon completion of the program, students will graduate with a Master's in Education degree and teacher licensure in the State of Wisconsin.
