Students will be oriented for studies at Midwives College of Utah, providing them with the tools and skills they need to be successful. Graduate students are enrolled in PROD 100 during their first trimester to ensure they have the information they need to complete their degree. For matriculated graduate students there is no credit for this class. .

Students will have the opportunity to select an area of interest within the scope of prenatal care to research and examine in-depth. Evidence-informed practices, actual practice styles, care provider attitudes, client perceptions, and mass media discourses will be examined. Students will collect original data using a variety of methods and engage existing scholarly literature to inform recommendations for midwives and other care providers to improve service to families in their chosen communities.

The Peace and Conflict Studies (P&CS) Program is an interdisciplinary program that deals with conflicts ranging from the interpersonal to the global level. The program enables students to understand the dynamics of peace and conflict and to contribute to the creation of more just and peaceable conditions in the home, the work place, and the world.

Environmental Humanities is a two-year degree training the next generation of environmental leaders and thinkers. This fully-funded master’s program positions students to study climate change, resilience, advocacy and other interests in preparation for changing the world. We encourage creative and scholarly exchanges toward new forms of environmental leadership and environmental justice.

The M.Ed.in K12 School Administration with Administrative Licensure Program is a four semester degree for experienced educators with a current Utah Professional Educator license. The program is designed to provide future administrators with the knowledge and skills essential for effective leadership in K12 schools.

The Teacher Leadership M.Ed. program is a four semester degree (30 credit hours) intended for K12 educators working in public, charter, private schools and other educational organizations. The program is designed to support educators in developing the knowledge and skills specific to building a foundation of instructional leadership that supports school improvement.

Describe how culture, class, geography, lifestyle, and gender influence disease and access to health care settings. Utilize the bio-psycho-social impact of illness and disability to assess individual clients across the life span. Recognize how diverse health/illness conditions, populations, and conditions for diverse populations impact social work practice Participate in interdisciplinary teams and function within an advanced managed-care context. Take on and successfully handle leadership and administrative roles in the dynamic health care industry.

Understand and address the impact of trauma on children and families, the resulting changes in behavior, on a developmental continuum, and on key relationships. Help children make alternative and a new meaning of their trauma history on their current experiences. Coordinate, collaborate and provide assistance/guidance to agencies in the system to maximize child’s safety; maximize the child’s sense of safety (both physical and psychological); understand and deal with the concept of trauma triggers; understand and assist children in reducing the overwhelming emotions associated with the trauma; utilize comprehensive assessments in order to assess the child’s traumatic experience, and use the assessment to guide services. Assure strategic partnerships to transform child-serving systems to deal effectively with traumatized children; provide sustainability in approach and subsequent outcomes of trauma-informed systems; improve the awareness, knowledge, and skills of professionals dealing with trauma; raise public awareness about child trauma; influence public policy and funding for agencies in the system dealing with trauma; and, evaluate assessment and intervention strategies and provide feedback for change if necessary.

Civil and Environmental Engineering has both MS and PhD degree offerings. Each student chooses a focus for their academic studies. These academic areas are listed below.

Master of Science (MS) - Non-Thesis Option During the second year of graduate study, MS students are required to complete a Program of Study. This form is not a selection of courses that satisfies the minimum requirements, but will be a list of all course work and research hours proposed for the MS degree that will be approved by the Supervisory Committee. It is important that students understand that the Supervisory Committee makes the final decision for the courses that will appear on the Program of Study for the MS.

This course will introduce participants to the various approaches and components of qualitative health research inquiries. Students will learn the key principles of qualitative research design, including data collection, analysis, and write-up. The course will survey common approaches to qualitative research and will provide students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in qualitative research methods through a research project related to their area of interest.

The Middle East Studies degree is designed to provide students with language and cultural competence in the region of the Middle East that can become the foundation for careers in public affairs, public service, business, and many other fields.

The M.Ed. with an emphasis in student affairs provides a broad base on which students may build and advance their careers within higher education. Most classes are three credit hours for a total of 36 credit hours.

Competently engage, evaluate, intervene, and evaluate in mental health practice, with individuals, couples, families, and groups, representing clients across the life span. Employ a full life span practice perspective that recognizes the interrelated dimensions of human development including physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual. Employ an ecological perspective in assessment and intervention, which recognizes that individual development is influenced by the individual’s environment including family, culture, community, natural environment, and global contexts.

Program Motivation The Combined MS/MBA Program is a new addition to the ECE curriculum that combines the applied coursework and research training of a traditional Engineering MS Program with the comprehensive business training gained through an MBA program.
