About Us

Since the fall of 1988, UCM has offered graduate courses for teachers and future teachers of English as a second/foreign language (ESL/EFL). These courses are designed to provide professional preparation for individuals who wish to teach English learners in the United States and/or abroad. UCM’s TESL faculty were members of the group that helped develop the Missouri K-12 certification in teaching English to speakers of other languages (ESOL), which was approved in May of 1990 by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)....
