Master in Sustainable Water Management

Kristianstad University Sweden
Campus 1 year September 2018 Sweden Kristianstad

Degradation of water and water resources is a worldwide issue. Given the importance of water to socio-economy, human and ecosystem health, an integrated approach is required if sustainable development is to be achieved. [+]

Why? Degradation of water and water resources is a worldwide issue. Given the importance of water to socio-economy, human and ecosystem health, an integrated approach is required if sustainable development is to be achieved. Who? You can be a Bachelor graduate or a practitioner with either environmental or technical backgrounds. You must be interested in advancing your water management skills, as well as developing your capacity to work in a multidisciplinary and international environment. It is important to note that this Programme does not intend to make an "ecologist" out of an "engineer", or an "engineer" out of an "ecologist". It however explicitly ensures that you deepen your water skills by integrating key knowledge complementary to your own field of study, and by deepening your own professional competences. What? You will acquire an ability to identify, define and discuss the potential impacts human activities have on the various aquatic ecosystems, as well as a capacity to identify, formulate and make a case for suitable water management in both developed and developing economies. You will use both ecological and engineering principles in developing prevention, mitigation and restoration measures that take into consideration socio-economical and public health issues. How? You will deal with problem solving and interdisciplinary cooperation on a daily basis. You will be immersed in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment (over 12 nationalities have so far attended this programme). We use a learning-by-doing approach, so you will have "hands-on" field and laboratory projects, seminar-based discussions and mini-workshops where you will... [-]
