Classes in sports studies often include a program of study that considers the unique role of sports both historically and today. Sports studies students often pursue jobs as fitness trainers, coaches, sports administrators, sports therapists, fitness center managers and development officers.

A few universities in the United States have extension programs in various parts of Jamaica. Most of the students who enroll in these part-time programs are working professionals who want to continue their education without having to relocate closer to the nation's Universities. A masters is earned after students complete an undergraduate degree program. To obtain a masters, you usually need to complete 12 to 18 college courses that often involve completing comprehensive tests and/or a thesis.
