This Master’s Programme is a unique two-year programme in War Studies that gives students an advanced, broad and deep understanding of matters relating to war, security and defence. The various modules explain how different modes of warfare are conducted, how modern defence systems are built and organised, and how security policies are designed and the impact they have on the world around us.

This programme is unique in Europe. It was developed as a response to a demand for a partially new profession that supports communication between developers and users of systems in the defence and security industry. The programme focuses on analysing complex problems and possibilities from a systems perspective.

The master's program Global Politics aims towards you who are interested in global political issues. You will learn how an increasingly complex world, where the global and the local meet, presents us with new challenges and opportunities. The program provides you with a solid practical base concerning concepts like justice, peace, security, power, culture, and democracy. You will learn how to analyze conflicts, international relations, and human rights claims and violations.

The two-year master's program in Media and Communication Studies gives you advanced knowledge of digital media through practical approaches in the field. You will work creatively and in an explorative manner with different types of media while learning to evaluate them from a critical perspective.

The master’s programme in International Migration and Ethnic Relations (IMER) focuses on current international developments and research perspectives in migration and ethnic relations; the effects of globalisation and human mobility on societies, groups and individuals; the social and political adaptation and integration of ethnic minorities in different societies; issues of inclusion and exclusion of immigrants; majority-minority relations; philosophical and ethical perspectives on life in diverse and complex societies.

Communication for Development (ComDev) is an interdisciplinary field combining studies on culture, media, communication, and development. ComDev explores communication within contexts of articulating global and local processes of social change. This is a half-time study program, combining courses on culture, communication, and development and integrating them with practical fieldwork. It explores the use of communication - both as a tool and as a way of expressing processes of social change - within the context of globalization.

The Program is intended for students who have an interest in business intelligence relating to international political issues, studies abroad and international placement.

Master of Arts in Media, Democracy, and Human Rights. Are you interested in analyzing the media’s role in society? Do you want to influence media development in line with democratic principles and human rights? This master’s program enables you to become an active agent in media development in an international context.

The program’s focus on leadership, democracy, and human rights aims to prepare tomorrow’s researchers, social narrators, and decision-makers for contributing responsibly and insightfully to the development and regulation of the media landscape, based on democratic ideals and principles, regardless of nationality and geographical considerations. The program focuses on an understanding of the increasingly important role and growing impact of the media as regards public service announcements, political communication, cultural expression, and social mobilization. The students are provided with a theoretical understanding, analytical tools, and strategic competence, all of which enable them to not only understand, but to become active agents in, media development that affects democracy, human rights, and regulation of the media in an international context. The program is highly international, using case studies and course reading taken from a broad international context, and attracting students from all over the world. The international degree awarded upon completion of the entire program is a Master of Arts (120 credits) in Media and Communications. The diploma and the degree certificate are issued in Swedish and English and are accompanied by a diploma supplement in English.
