Our innovative Cross-Border Legal Studies LL.M. Program, one of the first of its kind in the United States, recognizes the increasingly global nature of legal practice and the need for skilled attorneys to guide clients through their cross-border interactions. Located just 20 minutes from Canada, the US’s largest trading partner, the School of Law is uniquely situated to provide students with exposure to cross-border legal issues both inside and outside the classroom. A strong network of alumni based in Buffalo, New York and Ontario, Canada engage in a wide range of cross-border legal practice including trade, tax, immigration, real estate, and corporate and transactional work. These practitioners serve as community partners in the program and informal mentors to LL.M. students throughout the course of their studies. In addition, each student is assigned an academic advisor to provide one-on-one guidance throughout the program. Admission to the program requires a first degree in law. In addition to the capstone course, admitted students select four courses from over 30 offerings relevant to cross-border legal studies including international business, tax, corporate, immigration, trade and environment-related topics. Masters 2017/2018 in Buffalo USA. The Master of Social Work (MSW) Program is designed to train students for advanced social work practice with systems of any size (micro, mezzo, and macro). In the foundation year of the master of social work curriculum, students are taught the basics of generalist social work practice. The concentration year focuses on the development of clinical practice skills such as using the DSM V, managing crisis, applying advanced clinical techniques, demonstrating competency in a clinical practicum that emphasizes children and families, and focusing on the clinical needs of other marginalized groups. Daemen’s Education Department is nationally accredited through the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC)/Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) from May 3, 2013-May 3, 2020. Initial/Professional Certification (Grades 1-6) This program is for individuals seeking certification from the State of New York who do not possess a teaching certificate in special education. The student must possess a bachelor’s degree, from an accredited college or university in an acceptable liberal arts concentration and demonstrate a major area of study. In order to receive Initial certification, candidates must successfully pass the edTPA, EAS (Educating All Students), ALST (Academic Literacy Skills Test), and the appropriate CST (Content Specialty Tests).
