The public history program is addressed to all the B.A. graduates, not only in history, and even not only in the humanities, who would like to conduct research about and promote the public uses of history. Public history has been operating since the 1970s as a subdiscipline of history, but also as a separate academic discipline. It is called the history "for the people, by the people, with the people, of the people" and deals with all the aspects of history outside formal education (also academic education). It operates for many years at universities worldwide and enjoys considerable popularity among the students. A public history graduate will have knowledge about the ways the knowledge about the past is present in the public sphere and the methods of influencing those ways. He/she will be able to collect, preserve, process and promote the heritage of the past in a conscious and competent way and to research how the others do that. -

Our master program is a unique combination of solid mathematical background and computer science applications. Not only will you learn how to use tools, such as deep neural networks, but you will gain a profound understanding of why they work. Our staff is specialists from different subfields of data science: statistics, machine learning, optimization, analysis of big data, processing of natural language. We have both solid academic experience but we also advise companies how data science can be used to increase their profits. We offer small groups (15 people enrolled yearly) and an individual approach to each student. Only three courses (Machine Learning, Numerical Optimization, Statistical Learning) are obligatory. They will give you the necessary foundations for pursuing knowledge in more advanced courses. As a student of our department, you could also broaden your horizons by taking supplementary courses, e.g., on algorithms or optimization. Don’t worry: we’ll advise you what courses to study next! Our graduates find jobs in top companies in Silicon Valley (Google, Microsoft & Facebook), work at top universities (MIT), and found prospective startups. Our students participate in data science projects from the very beginning of their studies. You will gain invaluable hands-on experience already before graduating. -

The specialty Applied Geoscience is an offer for English speaking students not only from the European Union but also from all over the world. The program lasts 2 years (4 semesters). To obtain a master's degree, students must write and defend a master thesis. The program of these studies comprises the most important aspects of geosciences proposed in four semesters. The knowledge of mineralogy and petrology, stratigraphy, structural and economic geology, applied hydrogeology, environmental geochemistry, and environmental protection are proposed as a consistent academic course, which difficulty increases from the first to the third semester. As a consequence, the second and third-semester courses continue and build up on the knowledge obtained during previous semesters. All the courses are related to the wide aspects of the applied geoscience knowledge and include problems of environmental protection and as such teach issues strongly linked to present-day problems of the world. During the final fourth semester, students work almost exclusively on their MSc dissertation. -
