Linguistic proficiency is a key factor for smart as well as inclusive growth of the economy within Europe as specified in the Europe 2020 strategy and the Education and Training strategic framework 2020. With this in mind, we have designed an innovative and high-quality MA program in linguistics. The program is unrivaled in its combination of theoretical and empirical linguistics, which will provide students with cutting-edge skills and competencies and enhance their career options in the world of education and training as well as in the world of work. Specifically, the proposed program provides a thorough exposure to theoretical as well as empirical linguistics. Students will gain in-depth knowledge of linguistic theories for all levels of language and will learn how to apply them to analyze new sets of linguistic data. They will also be instructed on how to perform empirical studies to test linguistic hypotheses, both in terms of experiments and corpus studies. Great emphasis will be put on the way in which the two research fields can mutually benefit from each other. Students will not only know linguistic theories for their own sake, but they will also learn how to derive from them empirical research questions that can be validated experimentally. At the same time, empirical approaches to linguistics will always be grounded in theoretical work to suggest potential topics for experiments and for the discussion and interpretation of empirically derived results. -

The public history program is addressed to all the B.A. graduates, not only in history, and even not only in the humanities, who would like to conduct research about and promote the public uses of history. Public history has been operating since the 1970s as a subdiscipline of history, but also as a separate academic discipline. It is called the history "for the people, by the people, with the people, of the people" and deals with all the aspects of history outside formal education (also academic education). It operates for many years at universities worldwide and enjoys considerable popularity among the students. A public history graduate will have knowledge about the ways the knowledge about the past is present in the public sphere and the methods of influencing those ways. He/she will be able to collect, preserve, process and promote the heritage of the past in a conscious and competent way and to research how the others do that. -
