Welcome to the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER). The HPER Department at Alabama State University (ASU) is a part of the College of Education (COE). The Department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Physical Education (P-12) and Health Education (6-12) with graduates receiving teacher certification from the State of Alabama, or an undergraduate non-teaching degree in Recreation with a concentration in Recreational Therapy. The Department also offers Alternative “A” degrees in Physical Education and Health Education, as well as a minor in Health Education.
