Ocean Engineering

A masters refers to the completion of a graduate study program that prepares students to further their knowledge of a specific subject or advance their careers. The majority of masters are granted by state or public universities.

Ocean engineering is designed to teach students how to create technology that is optimized for ocean environments. This discipline might combine typical engineering principles with the special considerations of operations that take place at sea.

France, officially the French Republic, is a unitary semi-presidential republic located mostly in Western Europe, with several overseas regions and territories.

Master in Hydrodynamics for Ocean Engineering (MTECH HOE)

Centrale Nantes
Campus Full time 2 years September 2018 France Nantes

This master specialism aims to give students advanced training on typical problems of hydrodynamics applied to naval architecture and ocean engineering: ship resistance, seakeeping, ship behavior in irregular seas, water, waves and marine environment, physical, modeling and numerical aspects are studied. [+]

This master specialism aims to give students advanced training on typical problems of hydrodynamics applied to naval architecture and ocean engineering: ship resistance, seakeeping, ship behavior in irregular seas, water, waves and marine environment, physical, modeling and numerical aspects are studied.

The program includes theoretical courses on typical hydrodynamics problems: ship resistance, wave-induced motions, wave and marine environment modeling, and numerical methods used to solve these problems. A large part of the program is also devoted to the practical use of software to solve the problems cited above through a large variety of numerical methods: boundary elements or spectral methods under potential flow theory, finite-difference or finite-volume techniques in solvers for viscous flows, Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH). Students are also involved in practical work using the ocean test facilities (towing tank, wave tank equipped with a multi-flap wave generator etc.)... [-]

Master on Ship Operation & Naval Engineering

Two of the top French Technical Universities have teamed up to offer you a unique opportunity to learn naval engineering and become an engineer experienced in ship operation. At Ecole Centrale Nantes we provide a high-level naval engineer training program. You will have access to experimental facilities such as towing tank, wave tank, internal combustion engine test benches.

In collaboration with École Navale in Lanvéoc-Poulmic, close to Brest is the French Naval Academy where French Navy officers are trained. In Ecole Navale, we deliver a serious scientific training, navigation knowledge, and maritime environment. The outstanding strength of this master program is that you will have on-board training sessions on French Navy vessels. You will get an insight of onboard practice to serve complex equipment and to fit in with the quick evolution of knowledge and techniques which is highly valuable for a naval engineer and of course highly regarded by industrial employers. 100% English Master!...
