The Master of Global Music (GLOMAS) is a new, innovative and specialized graduate degree programme offered in collaboration between higher education institutions in three Nordic nations. Students will primarily be affiliated with one of the three Glomus founding partner institutions in Denmark, Sweden, or Finland but will also participate in joint courses held at each institution, for which travel and lodging expenses will normally be covered. In most cases, the Master degree programme will take 2 years to complete. In addition to coursework, all students will also conduct fieldwork on a foreign or minority musical culture. Students will be offered opportunities for fieldwork via partner institutions in the Southern hemisphere, particularly Africa and the Middle East.The programme emphasizes development of “bimusical” performance skills, typically within at least two traditions from different parts of the world, as well as studies of topics relevant to the career of a professional musician, including such areas as musical leadership and instructional skills, project management, and applied research. The Nordic Master in Jazz (NOMAZZ) is a joint initiative between the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.The programme leads to the Master of Music Degree (MMus) according to each institution’s specific regulations. When a student is accepted to the programme, he/she will become a student of one of these four institutions, which will be his/her "home institution", and where he/she will also graduate from eventually. The basic structure of the studies will, however, be the same for all the students in the programme and is designed and managed in co-operation with all institutions involved.The programme’s common language is English.You will receive tuition from some of the best known musicians of the Nordic jazz scene.
