The MusM Music (Performance) course will prepare you for a portfolio career in music performance in the rapidly diversifying post-pandemic music-making scene. You will develop an advanced understanding of the interpretation of music and technical expertise, whether through analysis, historical research, cultural critique, artistic research or performance. You will develop as multifaceted musicians with pedagogical and professional skills, and also have the opportunity to engage in community music performance practices as socially conscious artists.

Our unique MA program in Choral Conducting is directed by Professor Simon Halsey CBE and is in association with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and its internationally renowned choruses and conductors. It gives students the opportunity to observe, conduct, and sing every week.

This professionally focused, 12-month practice-based master’s degree in music performance aims to help students develop specialist skills as a performer, musical director, composer and arranger to an industry-leading standard through the creation of a significant body of original work demonstrating a distinctive artistic personality.

Those choosing the Advanced Master in Contemporary Music programme at the Royal Conservatory/School of Arts Ghent work under the guidance of the Ictus and SPECTRA contemporary music ensembles, on projects with an emphatic focus on recently composed music. Students specialize in contemporary music, as soloists or members of an ensemble. They play an active role in creating new works by both young and established composers.

The course will encourage you to develop the highest levels of instrumental skill through individual lessons and personalised learning. You will also develop your leadership and musical management skills through the leading of an ensemble, culminating in a performance of challenging original and existing repertoire.

The MMus/MA is a taught full-time or part-time postgraduate course that sees you continue with your specialism in either Production, Performance, Composition, or Performance and Composition, and demonstrate critical engagement with your discipline through a viva voce (MMus) or written critique (MA).

An education within classical music, which aims toward a career as a professional musician/singer or professional instrumental/voice teacher.

The Master’s in Church Music programme aims to educate musicians that possess high artistic, educational and professional abilities. We offer specialisations in Arrangement and Composition, Organ and Keyboard, and Vocal Music and Choir. On completion of the programme, the student must possess advanced knowledge and skills in order to work within the various functions and engagements of a professional musician – either as a soloist, a member of an established ensemble or as a church musician within the Church of Sweden or within other denominations.
