Masters in Music Education in Europe 2017/2018. Introduction The Master of Advanced Conducting is a 60 ECTS credit program designed to be completed in one year of study. This degree offers two specialisation branches: choral conducting and orchestral conducting. Both of these specialisations are professional in character and are aimed at preparing the future conductor for a wide range of situations. The program trains the student in all the different facets of the conducting profession from the choice of repertoire to the final concert presentation and all the intermediate stages of planning and organisation. The program balances broad theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical experience conducting groups in an academic context (for example in the Conducting Practice class) as well as a more professional environment (Artistic Internship class). At the end of the degree, the students will organise and conduct a joint concert for choir or symphony orchestra depending on the specialisation. Capitalising on Esmuc’s unique position as an academic reference in Barcelona, the capital of a region with a long tradition of choral and orchestral music, the student will have access to multiple professional and semi-professional groups to work with on their personal projects.
