Museology

The benefits of a Masters extend beyond improving your earning potential. They can provide you with personal and professional skills to accelerate your development. They are also an opportunity to differentiate yourself from your peers, many of whom will have similar A-level and undergraduate qualifications.

Museum subjects, sometimes referred to as museology, is the field that includes the ideas and issues involved in the museum profession—from the working, day-to-day skills needed to work in a museum to ideas on the societal role of museums.

Students who complete a part of their degree in Asia are growing in numbers. Currently, the second and the third biggest economies are in Asia. Without limitation, students have described their time in Asia as the best experience of their lives. Today, three of the four most populated countries of the world are in Asia: China, India, and Indonesia.

M.A. in Art Practices: Specialisation - Curatorial Practices - Film, Media and Visual Arts

Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology
Campus Full time 2 years July 2019 India Bengaluru

The Pathway in Curatorial Practices: Film, Media & Visual Arts is a two-year, full-time Masters programme designed to develop professional and academic excellence in the field of curating and to encourage students to curate projects and create a national and international network of peers and collaborators for their work. This specialisation is founded on the premise that there is no separation between practice and theory in curatorial work and that curators operate across a vast ecology of contexts and spaces, from the museum, to the commercial gallery, to the artist-led space, to the festival, to a lab, to new creative ventures. In today’s art world, the role of the curator often blends in with that of the artist, the publisher, the researcher, the archivist, and the creative entrepreneur. This programme responds to such interdisciplinarity by offering practice-led learning that combines the study of art history, aesthetics and exhibition histories with developing skills in critical writing and thinking, as well as project development and management. The students will explore the ethical, philosophical and political dimensions of current debates in contemporary art and culture, and will be encouraged to respond to the historical, political and cultural contexts of South Asia.
