Masters in Mechanical Engineering in Rome in Italy. The Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering aims at training young engineers with an advanced education, providing them with skills in designing, planning and managing complex activities of research and development in an industrial environment. This goal is achieved by means of a broad training proposal based on advanced mathematics and physics, and professional expertise targeted to the solution of complex engineering problems concerning design of processes, plants, systems, devices, machines. Engineering Design professionals educated at Sapienza can work as technology specialists in a wide range of fields, including manufacturing, mechatronic, transportation (automotive, naval, aeronautical and railroad), conventional and renewable energy production, biomechanics and many others. In these settings mechanical engineers are responsible for design, testing, manage, research and development services. The present Mechanical Engineering Course keeps the educational spirit and objectives since the origin of Mechanical Engineering in the most modern sense, during the industrial revolution in the eighteenth century. This continuity to the tradition is combined with the innovation in the didactic approaches, designed to transfer the research know-how of the academic staff in a continuous improvement of teaching experiences and methodologies. Becoming a “Mechanical Engineer” still gives an education of international relevance, and studying in Rome warrants the possibility of living a vivid industry-related cultural experience. [-]

The Special Degree in Aerospace Engineering (Code LM-28400) aims to develop experts that can be employed in advanced research and aerospace development centres. Students experience a system-oriented approach to aerospace engineering that is not common in the industry as the complexity of each subsystem drives engineers to focus on single aspects. The Special Master of Aerospace Engineering is a two-year programme designed for students holding an Italian masters degree (Laurea Magistrale) in any engineering discipline, earned after 5 years of studies, or an equivalent degree earned abroad. However, it may be reduced to one year for students with an Aerospace Engineering degree obtained at the end of 5 years of university-level study programmes. Learning Objectives The learning objective of the Special Master of Aerospace Engineering is training experts that can be employed in advanced research and development centers in aerospace engineering. An important aspect of the program consists in giving students a system-oriented approach to aerospace engineering. The capability of having a system-oriented and global vision of a space mission is not common in the industry because complexity of each subsystem pushes engineers to focus on single aspects. The design of the general architecture is assigned to the system engineer who is a long-experienced engineer that is able to have a global understanding of the project due to their experience acquired in various subsystems. System engineers are increasingly more difficult to find due to discontinuities that occur over time in the development of large space projects. Master programs in aerospace... [-]
