Marine Engine Engineering is a synthetically discipline of advanced science and technology, centralized on thermal, mechanical, electrical and automation engineering to train excellent students who deal with design, maintenance, management and research on ship power plants. This discipline was based on the group of warship internal combustion engine (1953) of Harbin Military Institute - HMI, marine gas turbine (1958 HMI) and so on.
Authorized discipline for Master Degree was approved by the Office of Academic Degree of Chinese Government in 1989. There are 19 teachers (15 Professors, 2 Associate Professors and 2 lectures, including 12 PhD holders) who conduct research on Marine Engineering for a long time. Four special research areas have dominant position in China, focusing on the performance and system analysis for ship power plant totality, vibration and noise control for ship power plants, automatic and measurement for ship power plants and special power plants.
