The staff training of the journalist began at the university from 2001. In 2002"Journalism and world literature" department was established for the purpose of organizing works systematicly and efficiently in this field. The first head of the chair was I.Jafarov, the PhD on philology, assistant- professor. In subsequent years, the PhD on philology, assistant- professor S.Sura led to the chair from 2006 to 2013. Currently, the chair is headed by the PhD on philology Shahla Shiraliyeva. The main directions of scientific researches of the chair are the labor problems of modern Azerbaijan journalism, the history and development of television and radio in Nakhchivan, yesterday and today of Nakhchivan press, television and radio journalism in the twenty-first century, e-journalism, the problems of Azerbaijan journalism history and topical problems of international journalism. The education is in two levels in Azerbaijani (full-time): bachelor and master. 6 are PhD on philology from 8 colleagues of the chair.
