Italian higher education has two components – universities and non-universities. Admission to master’s programs requires a first cycle/bachelor’s degree and competency in Italian. Some programs, such as education and arts, also require entrance examinations. Since admission procedures vary, prosepctive students should review the requirements for each program.
Tuition at public universities is low, beginning at around €1,000 per year, although master’s programs tend to run somewhat higher, and tuition at private institution is much higher. A typical master’s program requires two years of full-time study and 120 ECTS credits.
