East Asia is the foremost dynamic region in the world. This Master's track is organized around the achievements, opportunities and challenges facing East Asia. Taught by international staff affiliated with theCentre for East Asian Studies Groningenthis International Relations Master's Program focuses on the political economy and international relations of China, Japan and Korea.

Increasing international trade and finance is opening up new opportunities for the growth of firms, regions and countries. At the same time, it is posing new challenges as the benefits are not equally distributed and inequality is rising. In the one-year Master's degree in Economic Development and Globalization (MSc EDG), you will learn the tools to grasp the complex relationships between economic globalization and the economic development of regions and countries. You will use state-of-the-art economic theories to discover the impact of global trade and of financial globalization on economic growth and welfare. As you develop your skills, you will learn to recognise the forces that shape geographical patterns of economic activity. You will learn to advise firms and governments on how to reap the benefits of globalization and international value chains.

Within the one-year Master's degree in International Relations, you choose one of the following six Master's tracks:

The Research Master's degree in International Relations consists of the two-year Master's track inModern History and International Relations. You can also take this track as a specialisation of the Master's degree Program in History (Research).

The 120 ECTS Erasmus Mundus Joint Degree Master in International Humanitarian Action is an inter-university multidisciplinary master. It provides high-quality academic education and professional competencies for personnel working or intending to work in the area of humanitarian action. The programme is jointly offered by 8 European universities in the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, Malta, France and Poland. Students can follow the Regional Training Track (3rd semester) at various global universities.
