Master in International Public Management General objectives Market dynamics, economic globalization, financing development, environment, corruption, financial crime, regional Integration, cultural diversity and trade, education… These key global policy Issues of the day - to name a few - are protean and at the intersection of local, national, international and global interests. This inherent complexity is amplified by the ever growing number of actors involved in decision-making process. The Master in International Public Management is intended for students who are interested in careers in international public service that rely on advisory and advocacy skills in order to facilitate and coordinate the formulation of global policy. It aims more generally at training policy makers with the capacity to operate in a variety of cultural contexts in addressing issues of international range. The program provides students with a variety of tools for policy analysis essential to becoming key players in the decision-making process at the international and global level. Although it is possible to undertake the Management public international / International Public Management Master program without it, important prior work experience in the field or a specialised undergraduate course of study (law, business, engineering …) is an asset for placement for graduates of the programme. Security, migration, health and so many other fields of our globalized world need first-class and highly trained managers with an intrinsic spirit of leadership. The PSIA program in International Public Management strives to prepare global public managers to fulfil that role across continents. Ghassan Salamé, Dean of PSIA International Public Management Graduate Class of '13 Anjuli Pandit reflects on her time at PSIA, and how it prepared her for great professional challenges. Scientific Advisor Richard Balme is professor of political science at Sciences Po, Paris School of International Affairs, and research fellow at the Centre d’Etudes Europeennes (CEE). He also teaches at the School of Public Policy and Management of Tsinghua University, Beijing. He teaches and researches comparative public policy and international relations. Among his recent publications are Collective Action and European Democracy. Power and Protest in the EU (With D. Chabanet). Rowman and Littlefield 2008.Europe-Asia Relations: Building Multilateralisms (With B. Bridges). Palgrave 2008..“Central-Local Relations and Innovation in Environmental Policy-Making: Comparative Perspectives”, a special issue of Environmental Policy and Governance, 2014 (With Qi Ye, Eds). Smart Grids Applications and Developments. London, Springer Verlag, 2014 (With Li V., Hills P., Mah D., Eds). Main orientations and specific features Depending on their career aspirations and in relation to the type of institution in which they aspire to work – local and national administrations, notably the diplomatic corps, intergovernmental and governmental organisations or transnational firms – students have the possibility to chart a personalised course of study in the IPM programme. Courses are provided in three main areas: International Organizations and Global Governance; Public Policy: Theory and Analysis; and Policy Management and Leadership. Students may choose to concentrate on one global issue or else study several contemporary global issues in which State sovereignty and multilateralism are both seen as struggling to find an appropriate policy response. In order to contextualise the interplay of actors students also have the choice to focus on the study of established and emerging non-State players or on the dynamics of interactions at the international and global levels through the study of leadership, the sociology of international relations or intercultural management. Europe as a key regional player is not forgotten. Lastly, students may acquire and develop operational, concrete skills in a number of domains: analysis and evaluation of public policy, information systems, legal writing, crisis communication and advocacy, and diplomatic practices. Careers opportunities Management public international / International Public Management students may typically consider careers in local, national or international administrations, in intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations or in transnational firms, working in domains such as international cooperation, development or new public-private sector partnerships. Master in Communication & Cultural Management

Zeppelin University
Campus Full time 1 - 2 years August 2017 Germany Friedrichshafen

In societies of today, knowledge of different cultures and actionability within those cultures are more sought-after than ever. In societies of today, knowledge of different cultures and actionability within those cultures are more sought-after than ever. Likewise the demands on communication practices have increased dramatically. For that reason communication skills and cultural knowledge are key qualifications for the 21st century. Our master degree in the field of "Communication & Cultural Management" meets these challenges. Here, students can choose between two different tracks, meaning they can focus on either "Communication and Media" or "Culture Production". On the one hand, graduates of this course learn about and analyze the cultural foundations of present societies, while on the other hand they are enabled, through communicative practice, to play a part in resolving current social issues. Together, communication and culture are unlikely basic concepts of modern society. They emphasize what we take for granted and, in the process, call it into question. That changes the situation. The master degree in the field of "Communication & Cultural Management" offers its students a critical analysis with communications and cultural science theories and establishes an advanced understanding of the workings and problems of modern society. Students study research methods relating to the humanities and social sciences, as well as the functioning of social and cultural analysis. A dialog-oriented and autonomously organized degree course promotes cognitive, creative, and expressive abilities. In addition, research experience is gained, while organizational skills and the ability to work in a team are developed in real-life research-, consultancy-, and exhibition projects. The new generation of executives in culture and communication need ever more management and strategic expertise to prepare them for making complex decisions in the dynamic environment of media, cultural institutions, economy, and society – on both a national and an international level. Combine Culture and Communication with Management Skills A program for everyone who has more faith in culture and communication than in numbers and offices. The professors ought to know this one best: What are the most important questions concerning the Faculty of Cultural Sciences? Sustainable Society and Media How free is the flow of information? What do media communicate? And how? What else should you know in an information society? Cultural Management for the Next Society Does anyone want to be the public anymore? Why is culture unsettled? And how are museums and other cultural institutions organized in the 21st century? Communication Illuminated Politically and Strategically Do foundations convey reform messages in a more efficient way? And who influences advertising? Innovation through Art How are progressive art and "social innovations" compatible? Does art exist without civil society? If so, what does it look like? Language Requirements Although a good number of courses are offered in English at ZU, students will not be in a position to complete a degree program in English. Knowledge of English is preferred; knowledge of German is an absolute necessity. ZU requires that all degree-seeking applicants demonstrate a minimum of intermediate-level German skills. [-]
