Sweden is a top choice for many students from around the world for a Master in IT program for several reasons; one being that Sweden’s economy is driven by technology making it an ideal location for an IT program. There are plenty of professional opportunities in Sweden for academic and professional development, including both local and multinational companies where students can apply the knowledge they gain in the classroom to real world situations.
In Sweden, a Master in IT program will usually require a bachelors degree in a related field to ensure an adequate knowledge base. Master in IT programs in Sweden are generally comprised of coursework, practicum, research, and a thesis. Students will explore such areas of IT as information security, software engineering, web design, computer programming, and telecommunications, to name a few.
A Master in IT degree in Sweden is a first step towards a successful career in a variety of fields. If this sounds of interest to you, then take a look through the programs below and find the one that suits you best!
This programme provides knowledge and skills in three key areas: project management, the use of IT in business, organisational and technological innovation, and the evaluation of IT in organisations. [+]
The programme targets students with a bachelor degree in informatics/information systems, business administration or computer science.
The role of information systems is strategic in a society where information is expected to be produced, co-produced, remediated, consumed, and seamlessly shared across an infinite amount of connected environments. From sensors to ambient devices, from smartphones to autonomous cars, information systems are ubiquitous and so commonplace that they have become somewhat invisible. When shopping, traveling, paying taxes or exercising our rights, we always rely on some digital infrastructure to smoothly and successfully support our actions.... [-]

A number of information security incidents, as well as the financial losses relating to such incidents, is increasing. Thus it is not surprising that Information security management, aimed at safeguarding an organisation's information assets, has become a key strategic issue for many organisations.
Safeguarding an organisation's information assets in today's complex environments is difficult and requires more than solely technical skills. In order to facilitate a broad understanding of the field our program includes courses considering organizational, social and technical aspects of information security.
During the first year, the students gain a broad understanding of information security and develop advanced knowledge and skills within information security management. The second year aims to develop advanced knowledge and skills in research and investigation. The students learn how to develop and communicate knowledge within the field of study as well as increase their degree of reflection on research and practice within the field. The education is based on case-based learning and flipped classroom pedagogic. These pedagogic methods encourage students to active learning and develop their problem-solving skills that are necessary to address the complexity of information security management in organisations. By working with cases developed in collaboration with our industry partners, the students gain a deeper understanding and practical field experience.... [-]
Do you know your wireless communications, networking, and data analysis? We live in an increasingly on-line world, where not only people but also an increasing number of different machines and sensors are connected. Concepts that are becoming more frequent in both the mass media and specialised media include the internet of things, smart homes, the smart grid, the digitalization of industry and autonomous vehicles. [+]
To maintain and develop the high-tech industry around the world, engineers are needed who can both understand and develop communication solutions as well as having the methods to analyse and process the huge amounts of information that flow in various networks. To an increasing degree, this need will also be felt outside the traditional information and communications technology sector. Examples of such areas are the manufacturing industry, the motor vehicle industry and the new sector of companies based on cloud services.
This programme will prepare you for a future professional role by providing you with a broad basis and the opportunity for in-depth studies in the following areas... [-]

The programme in Cloud Computing and Services focuses on a broad range of applications like electronic commerce, mobile services, online social networks, peer-to-peer systems and Web services.
What is common to all of these applications is that information sources and control are decentralised over the network and multiple data centres and their underlying systems become distributed, reconfigurable and adaptive. All this makes the process of developing distributed software systems significantly more complex than for centralised systems.
Cloud Computing and Services will provide students with a system of knowledge both in formal foundations, technological platforms and practical skills in implementing distributed software applications. The programme will also provide an insight into current and future directions of the distributed software development. After completion of the study, students understand and know how to use large distributed systems. On top of this they are also capable of designing and constructing cloud computing systems and services on networking and computing infrastructures.... [-]

Information security is primarily concerned with the protection of information assets. Today, most of the information resides in - and is communicated via IT systems. Hence, these systems need to be protected from various threats and attacks. The goal of information security is to protect with respect to the information its confidentiality, integrity and availability. Naturally, it all depends on the business needs and legal requirements. The area of information security is both exciting and overreaching since it also entails the protection of the essential and critical cyber infrastructure, trying to prevent or solve a wide range of computer crimes and other illicit activities, as well as protecting human rights, freedom and democracy. One of the many objectives is to devise new methods and strategies for cyber readiness and defence.... [-]
