Master of Architecture

CEPT University
Campus Full time July 2017 India Ahmedabad

The two-year-long Master’s Program in Architecture leads to award of the M. Arch. degree. It enhances the skills of students holding a professional bachelor’s degree in architecture and provides them additional exposure to the aesthetic, technical, social, political and ethical dimensions of the built environment. [+]

Master of Architecture Faculty of Architecture – CEPT University Architects play significant roles in the design and production of built environments. Those who focus on design are commissioned by clients to lead the work of the many experts who are required to put buildings and places together. When playing this leadership role architects ensure that the end product is architecturally meaningful, while meeting prosaic functional requirements. Many architects refrain from playing this expansive leadership role and prefer instead to focus on some aspect of the built environment. Others refrain from design altogether and focus instead on the study and critique of built environments in a bid to enrich architectural discourse. Yet others choose to proactively work with disadvantaged communities to improve living conditions. The two-year-long Master’s Program in Architecture leads to award of the M. Arch. degree. It enhances the skills of students holding a professional bachelor’s degree in architecture and provides them additional exposure to the aesthetic, technical, social, political and ethical dimensions of the built environment. The program also offers the possibility of, but does not require specializing in and obtaining a Major and/or a Minor in any of the following: Architectural Design History, Theory and Criticism Urban Design Conservation This program at CEPT University is highly recognized and provides the opportunity for young professionals to upgrade their capacities and credentials. It also provides an opportunity for wider exposure to architecture, planning, construction, design and management of human habitats. Exchange Programs with international universities allow for exposure of students to diverse of academic and professional environments in the world. Curriculum During the first ‘foundation’ semester, all students are required to complete a joint design studio. During the next two semesters they can choose from studios focusing on any of the above areas of specialization. In addition to studios, students are also required to take mandatory courses, seminars and workshops and choose from others which are focused on areas of specialization. Obtaining a Major in any area of specialization requires completing at least two studios and three courses focusing on that area. Obtaining a Minor in any area requires completion of at least three courses focusing on that area. During the fourth semester students are required to complete a capstone project – an individual but guided design or research project. Twice, in breaks between semesters, students are required to sign up for study tours or courses organized as part of the Summer School and Winter School programs. To enable students to pursue individual interests only three quarters of the total academic workload is mandated. Students choose courses from the many available electives to complete the rest. Teachers are drawn from practicing professionals who bring practical experience to the classroom and academics and complement teaching with more theoretical and critical approaches. Admission and Prerequisites Admission to the program is based on academic history during undergraduate studies, portfolio, work experience and in-person / teleconference interview. The applications will be scrutinized in a two stage evaluation process. Minimum Qualification to apply for this program includes a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (B. Arch) or equivalent recognized by the Council of Architecture (COA) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks for General category candidates and 50% aggregate marks for reserved category candidates. Two years’ professional work experience is desirable. International Entry CEPT’s guiding principal for International Admissions is to seek equivalence between International standards achieved and those of Indian home students. There are differences between Europe, America and India in degree length, academic standards and award structure. CEPT will therefore consider each International application on its merits seeking international equivalence and bearing in mind any professional requirements that these Programs have. [-]

This European Master in Law and Economics (EMLE) programme offers the unique opportunity for interdisciplinary studies of law and economics at two or even three European and Non-European universities. Each partner university awards a Master degree (LL.M. / M.A. / M.Sc.). [+]

Masters in India 2017. European Master in Law and Economics (EMLE) This European Master in Law and Economics (EMLE) programme offers the unique opportunity for interdisciplinary studies of law and economics at two or even three European and Non-European universities. Each partner university awards a Master degree (LL.M. / M.A. / M.Sc.). The programme provides students with an advanced understanding of the economic effects of divergent laws and prepares students for a professional career, for example, in public organisations, in multinational law firms or consultancy firms. Graduates are also well prepared for doctorate research in a PhD programme such as the European Doctorate in Law and Economics (EDLE). The EMLE has been recognized by the European Commission as an Erasmus + Programme of "outstanding academic quality". The Erasmus + label allows the EMLE programme to annually grant a substantial number of scholarships (including several full scholarships to students from “Partner Countries”). For law students, the knowledge of the specific regulations of their home country is too narrow a base for counseling firms that are active in international trade. Additionally, a familiarity with the economic effects of legal rules has become indispensable for understanding their clients' commercial needs. Similarly, economics students will profit from an accurate understanding of the institutional legal framework of market economies. For both lawyers and economists, knowledge of the other discipline and international contacts are crucial for a successful future career. The EMLE programme is the institutional response to these challenges. EMLE Programme Features The EMLE programme offers the following unique combination of features: A truly interdisciplinary approach: - Lectures in both law and economics - A programme that is open to graduates of law or economic faculties - A large faculty consisting of leading academics and practitioners in the field of law and economics An international curriculum, faculty, and student body - The possibility to study at three different universities out of seven European partners and several non-European partner universities - A network of highly qualified students from over 30 nations A small student body at each partner university to ensure an intensive learning experience Programme Structure The programme covers one academic year, for which successful students will receive 60 ECTS points. The courses start at the beginning of October and end in June. The academic year is divided into three terms. The unique international and interdisciplinary character of the EMLE Programme is secured through an intensive co-operation between lawyers and economists at no less than seven European Universities and two non-European partners. Students may study at up to three different universities but cannot spend all terms in the same location. In the first two terms students can choose among three teaching centres. This leads to an average class size of up to 35 students, given a maximum of 105 admitted students in the entire program. - In the first term, courses will be offered at the Universities of Rotterdam, Hamburg and Bologna. Classes generally start in the first week of October; exams finish in late December. - In the second term students will study at the Universities of Ghent, Hamburg or Rotterdam. Classes generally start in the first week of January; exams finish in late March. - In the third term there are more teaching centres and a lower average class size. Courses are offered in Aix-en-Provence, Haifa, Hamburg, Mumbai, Warsaw, and Vienna. Classes generally start in the first week of April; exams finish in late June. Admission Requirements The EMLE is a postgraduate course. Preference will be given to applicants who already have a first master degree. The minimum requirement for admission is a bachelor degree, provided that this degree leads up to employability in the relevant labour market. Applicants with a bachelor degree only need to provide proof that this degree is an appropriate level of qualification in the labour market in their home country. Besides graduates in Law or Economics, students with a first degree in Business Administration or in other social sciences may also apply if the curriculum includes a substantial number of courses in law and/or economics. The above requirement with respect to employability in the labour market equally applies. Application Procedure The application procedure differs depending on whether an applicant is considered a ‘Programme-Country- student’ or ‘Partner-Country-student’ in accordance with the criteria of the European Union. ‘Programme-Country- students’ are those who either, - have a passport of an EU Member State or Former Yugoslavia, Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland,Turkey or - have carried out their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the above countries. All applicants who are characterized by neither of the above conditions are considered as ‘Partner-Country-students’. Note that students with multiple nationalities who are citizens of one of the countries listed in the definition, as well as of a ‘Partner-Country‘, and who have not spent 12 months in Europe may choose whether they want to apply as ‘Programme-Country- students’ or ‘Partner-Country-students’. Duration & Price Price € 5,500.- for ‘Programme-Country- students’; € 9,500.- for ‘Partner-Country-students’. [-]

The premise of our approach to graduate legal education is that no matter whatever their level of exposure to law, our graduates will practice in a global environment. [+]

Masters in India 2017. LLM The premise of our approach to graduate legal education is that no matter whatever their level of exposure to law, our graduates will practice in a global environment. We have designed the curriculum to sensitize our graduate students to the normative and professional challenges globalization entails and to equip them with the relevant tools to enable them to approach the law in a more encompassing, universally-aware manner. Students benefit from an unmatched selection of course content, seminars, practical experiences and opportunities to engage in intellectual projects at the highest level. At present, we are offering an LL.M. degree with specialization in Human Rights Law. In future, we propose to provide LL.M. degree in areas like Corporate Law; Intellectual Property Rights Law, Environmental Law; etc. Keeping in view the interest of the legal academia, besides regular course curriculum, we lay a great emphasis in equipping the students with innovative teaching skills which would ultimately pave the way to become excellent teachers. In addition, the programme is beneficial to those who want to expand their legal understanding and secure strategic decision making roles in major NGOs as well as Human Rights lawyering. The objective of the course is to enable students primarily through research, presentation, discussion and writing, to acquire a thorough knowledge of, and an ability to critically analyze, the theory and the law of human rights protection at the national, regional and international levels. By the end of the course, students should have: overall awareness of the history and theory of human rights in law; detailed knowledge of the relevant provisions of the Constitution, national laws and judicial pronouncement on Human Rights and its enforcement mechanism as well as international human rights instruments and mechanism; familiarity with specialised tools and resources for research into human rights law.
