Transport and Geoinformation Technology at KTH

The master’s programme combines two closely related aspects of the built environment: transport systems and geoinformation technologies. The programme enables students to either specialise in one of these main subjects or develop their own interdisciplinary study plan, making use of each student’s unique background and interests. The recommended courses form a foundation for both subject areas, and students can choose a subject area by selecting the most appropriate sequence of the elective courses. Most courses combine interactive lectures with laboratory work. Many also include an in-depth term project. The courses make use of modern data collection instruments and quantitative modelling and processing software.... [-]

In the Master’s Program in Polar Landscape and Quaternary Climate, you get knowledge and skills necessary for the understanding and analysis of polar and alpine landscapes. You get insights into how they have changed on different time scales, linked to climate variations during the Quaternary period.

Climate change is particularly rapid in the glacial and periglacial landscapes of polar and alpine regions. The program will provide you with knowledge about the global climate system’s functioning and about methods used to reconstruct climate and environmental change. Master's Program in Geoecology

The Department of Ecology and Environmental Science at Umeå University offers a 2-year Master of Science Program for students that would like to specialize in Geoecology. Geoecology integrates the fields of Geosciences and Ecology. With an emphasis on the Nordic landscape, you will study natural earth processes, climate change and the effects of anthropogenic impact, such as resource utilization and pollution. These processes result in a more dynamic environment than what is generally recognized, and you will develop an awareness of environmental changes on timescales from years to millennia.

InstructionThe Study Program starts with a field course, Field Methods in Geoecology. After that, you will have opportunities to take theoretical courses and applied courses directed towards field studies, as well as courses directed towards Geographic Information Systems. The program is very flexible, as the only compulsory courses are the first course, Field methods in Geoecology, 15 ETCS, and the final Degree thesis, 30 ECTS. Courses can otherwise be chosen freely, as long as the requirements for the M.Sc. degree are met.... [-]
