Best Masters in Geographic Sciences in India 2017. Master of Technology in Geomatics Program Overview The Masters of Technology in Geomatics is a field with ancient roots, modern relevance, and an eye to the future. Geomatics is both an applied science and a professional discipline. Geomatics, also known as Geo-Informatics, refers to the mathematics, science and technology used to study spatial information. M.Tech in Geomatics is a professional course which is unique and different than mainstream specialization which offers latest space-based technology. Geomatics is for those who are tech-savvy, want to get trained and skill developed in remote sensing and geographical information systems, those with knowledge of computers can use their skills in developing tools to make the world interesting and simple to understand for people and knowledge-based decision making. Those who belong to the field of Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Information Technology, Computer Science, Basic Science, Earth Science, Geography, but would like to study for an applied career then Geomatics can be very rewarding. Curriculum Masters in Geomatics is designed ‘discipline neutral’ for interdisciplinary graduate students and professionals. It includes earth observation from space through various remote sensing sensors. The course covers data acquisition system, GIS, information technology, resources application and analysis to the interdisciplinary graduates and professionals. Geomatics extends into more contemporary methods including Global Positioning Systems, Digital Photogrammetry, LiDAR Technology, qualitative and quantitative analysis of satellite and aerial imagery specific to earth sciences and environmental applications. Various aspects of project planning and management, database design and archiving, Big-data, Web and Mobile GIS, integration and handling of multiple geo-spatial data by integrated approach and applications with extensive theoretical and case based training are also taught. Admission and Prerequisites A minimum of 55% aggregate marks in bachelor’s/Master’s degree for general category candidates and 50% for SC/ ST/OBC category candidates is required for all the PG Faculty of Technology Program. Bachelor of Engineering/ Bachelor of Technology in – Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Agriculture, Water Resources, Environmental Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Information Technology. Bachelor of Architecture or Planning Masters of – Basic Science, Earth Science, Climate Science, Environment Science, Information Technology, Disaster Management, M A in Geography. International Entry Requirements CEPT’s guiding principal for International Admissions is to seek equivalence between International standards achieved and those of Indian home students. There are differences between Europe, America and India in degree length, academic standards and award structure. CEPT will therefore consider each International application on its merits seeking international equivalence and bearing in mind any professional requirements that these Programs have. This department has been started in 2013 to provide education and training in the specialized fields of atmospheric science and space technology and to foster research excellence through its “Centre for Atmospheric Science”. The department has eminent and reputed faculty, with profound academic experience in diverse fields of atmospheric science and space technology. At present the department is offering a 2-year M.Tech. program in “Atmospheric Science & Space Technology” and a doctoral program leading to Ph.D. degree, with the main objective of providing education with a blend of (atmospheric) science and (space) technology. The academic programs of this department are well recognized, as evidenced by the award of FIST and four research projects from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. At present, four Professors and one Associate Professor constitute the faculty, and the profiles of the faculty are separately visible on this web-site. The department houses permanent equipment, which has been acquired at a cost of Rs. 2 crores, and the same is being accessible to B.Tech., M.Tech., and Ph.D. students to meet their academic requirements. Research and training being a continuous activity of this department, several seminars/workshops have been organized in the past and few more are scheduled and planned. The expertise of the faculty and the main research areas of this department are categorized as two fields, one on upper atmospheric science and space technology that include GPS technology for communication and navigation systems, signal processing. The second is lower atmospheric science, which includes weather and climate studies, atmospheric pollution, weathermatics, and weather and climate related risk assessment. The department envisages excellent opportunities for M.Tech. students to be a part of the innovative development of blended science and technology to meet societal needs of the current and near future. This department aspires to excel in teaching, research and industry/consultancy at national level and to produce highly competent scientists/ engineers/ technologists in the field of Atmospheric Science and space technology through focusing on specializations in Communication Sector, lower and upper atmosphere and satellite navigation systems, weather and climate data mining and applications [-]
