Τhe aim of this M.Ed. is to prompt French Language, Literature and Philology graduates’ professional development as teachers of French as a foreign language by actively engaging them in theoretical and practical studies in the domain of language teaching methodology, and in accordance with the ever-increasing demands of the current local and international labor market.
Upon completion of the Master's Program, students are expected to:
understand and demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills in the teaching of the French language: with particular regard to language teaching, to consider, select and use appropriate methods for effective learning of all language skills (production and comprehension of written and spoken discourse);
understand and demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills in the teaching of the French language: with particular regard to the teaching of structures and functions of the French language (phonetics/phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics/vocabulary, and culture), to evaluate, adapt and develop suitable material;
design, develop and evaluate programs of studies in accordance with the most important theories in the fields of language, communication, and interaction, and to develop instructional materials for the teaching of the French language;
produce, analyze and interpret measurement instruments for the assessment of their learners’ language competence;
apply pedagogically appropriate learning scenarios using ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) applications in different learning contexts (e.g., face to face, distance), taking into account specific purposes, needs, and learning environments;
