These two industry leaders forecast an increase of close to 5% in activity over the next years and estimations indicate that the annual increase of large commercial airplanes will induce a doubling of the number of aircraft by 2030. Nearly sixty percent of the turnover is subcontracted all over the world and concerns mostly production and manufacturing activities. As a consequence most aeronautical subcontracting companies will have to increase their production rates but also to keep up to date with technological changes; moving from metallic processes toward composite materials processes. Moreover the aircraft manufacturers have changed their supply chain structure in the last years, and subcontractors are now required to manage more complex parts and to take over, on their own, the qualification processes. An important part of the programme are the Innovation and & Entrepreneurship (I&E) courses. The I&E basics course provides an introduction to business and management. The Business Development Lab will extend projects mainly in the areas of distributed system and cloud computing by a market survey, a business model generation process and a venture development exercise. We emphasize user driven innovation and holistic analysis of service, technology, organization and financial perspectives, as distributed systems in general and cloud computing in particular are disruptive for existing business models and almost always have a significant impact on the culture and social relations. Society-relevant themes will also be at the core of the summer schools, which will bring students from the different entry points together. The optimisation of adsorption, colloidal and rheological properties also opens prospects of using clay minerals for medical uses, pollution control, and environmental protection. Clay minerals play a role in economic geology (both as important mineral resource and in energy resource exploration) and soil management. Clays also have many negative effects in geotechnical engineering, manifested in the form of landslides, mudflows, and the deterioration of clay-based construction materials. Clay knowledge is extremely inter- and multidisciplinary as it includes geological, geotechnical, mineralogical, physico-chemical and bio-geochemical aspects. The IMACS is the first master course addressing analytical techniques and their recent developments, clay mineral properties as well as their main application domains. Thus, the complex and versatile nature of clays, as well as their numerous uses and applications, demand that clay engineers have a multidisciplinary education.
