The master’s degree in business engineering, representing 120 credits, provides solid specialist training in management, enabling effective integration into private or public industrial or non-industrial organisations. Profile of the programme The master’s degree in business engineering offers graduates management training that is based on traditional courses (finance, marketing, accounting, law, industrial economics, etc.) but also on specific disciplines that are in high demand in the market, such as the environment, logistics, auditing, entrepreneurship, production management, etc. The curriculum includes: A first year of 60 credits distributed across a common core (human resource management, statistical and econometric methods in management, logistics, financial management, advanced marketing, advanced microeconomics, tax and business law, production management and one of four major options: finance, marketing, auditing and international management). A second year of 60 credits built around a common core of 40 credits (dissertation, internship, strategic management) and a deepening of the major option chosen in the first year of the master’s. Languages are naturally part of the curriculum, and follow the student through to graduation. They are taught in specific language lessons and are used for communication in seminars in English, Dutch or Spanish. With the professional focus, it opens doors to careers that are indispensable in all companies and all sectors. Profile of the programme The Master's Degree in Computer Science, professional focus, includes advanced courses in computer science and other specific disciplines that are demanded on the job market. It truly prepares students for their professional insertion. The first year includes several in-depth courses that cover important issues in computer science and a consequential individual Master's project that will lead to the thesis in second year. The course module "Advanced aspects of software systems" may be replaced by one of the modules offered at ULB: "Conception des systèmes", "Modélisation et algorithmique", "Informatique graphique". They are based on a common formation, the choice of a specialising field and the progressive and coordinated organization of personal works. Profile of the programme The common core programme provides a background in solid and fluid mechanics, in machinery, in heat transfer and in design/production. One third of the training is customised by the choice of one of three specialising field: The Controlled Systems focus allows to get into design of automated and mechatronic systems focusing on advanced integration of components from different technologies. The focus is mainly on continuous industrial processes and electronic controls. The Energy and Power Systems focus considers rational management of energy and on sustainable development. With this training, the engineer can play a vital role in the control of various processes for production, conversion and transmission of power and energy while reducing their harmful effects. This field directly benefits from the research done by the Energy Cluster. The Machine Design and Production Engineering focus provides an additional training in the design, production, operation and maintenance of mechanical systems in traditional industrial sectors. Engineers have natural skills placing them at the forefront of computer science. They also have the ability to make a rational and methodical contribution to business management. At the end of the five-year programme, his/her knowledge permits to tackle some problems of the society and to play a responsible role. Profile of the programme The training deals with a strong creative spirit, necessary to the role of architecture, as well as to a deep knowledge of the engineering techniques. These two complementary aspects are commonly developed along the training and they are reinforced by several university exchanges (ERASMUS, TIME, in collaboration with high schools, universities or industries). Their creativity is highlighted through architecture projects, done individually or collectively.
