Requirements for the Masters of Engineering (ME) degree with a concentration in Electric Power are: Total of 30 graduate credits At least 6 electrical engineering courses, 4 of which are in the power engineering area 21-27 credits of course work 1-7 credits of ME project (option avail in Summer term) The Power Engineering concentration allows students the maximum flexibility to design their program of study to meet their specific needs. Sample options: Student A may wish to concentrate strictly in the power area, taking 7 power engineering courses and conducting a significant 7 credit hour project in the power area. Student B may wish to take 4 power engineering courses, 2 other engineering courses, 3 business courses and a 1 credit hour project. The Department provides opportunities for post-baccalaureate study toward the Master of Science in Engineering with the Electrical Engineering option. These opportunities serve the practicing engineer as well as the student who wants to pursue advanced graduate study and research. Thesis, non-thesis, and management plans are available. Areas of study include control systems, digital systems, computer engineering, communications, computer-aided design, device and circuit modeling, solid-state devices, sensors, power systems, power electronics, electromagnetic fields, electromechanical systems, and system analysis and design. The student is encouraged to interact with the faculty to explore these or other opportunities. Advisement: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering advises its students carefully and requires an advisor for each graduate stu­dent. Upon acceptance for graduate study, an advisor is assigned initially by the Graduate School. It is the responsibility of the student to initiate contact with his/her advisor, and this should be done as soon as possible before first-time registration and for course registrations each semester.
