Admission requirements Curricular requirements To be able to profitably follow the Secondd Cycle Degree Programme in Electrical Engineering students must possess the following knowledge: - University level knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, Informatics and Electrotechnics - Knowledge of English language at least of level B1 for the Italian language curriculum and level B2 for the curriculum in English language. Admission to the Second Cycle Degree Programme is also subject to the possession of the following curricular requirements: 1. A First Cycle Degree in one of the following classes, or other suitable qualification obtained abroad: Ex Italian Ministerial Decree no. 270: a) L-9 b) L-8 c) LM-25 – Automation Engineering LM-27 – Telecommunication Engineering; LM-29 Electronic Engineering; LM–30 Energy and Nuclear Engineering Ex. Italian Ministerial Decree no. 509/99: a) class 10 b) class 9 c) 29/S – Automation Engineering; 30/S – Telecommunication Engineering;; 32/S - Electronic Engineering; 33/S – Energy and Nuclear Engineering and 2. a. shall have acquired at least 6 CFU credits in one of the following subject areas: SSD ING-IND/31 SSD ING-IND/32 SSD ING-IND/33 SSD ING-INF/07 If the applicant comes from an institution where the CFU credits system was not established, the rules apply by counting one year of the original institution as equivalent to 12 CFU credits, and one half year as equivalent to 6 CFU credits Or 2. b having accomplished the bachelor degree in: Ingegneria Elettrica; Ingegneria dell'Energia Elettrica; Ingegneria Energetica; Ingegneria dell'Automazione; Ingegneria Elettronica e delle Telecomunicazioni; by Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna If no Degree certificate and/or above-mentioned credits have been obtained, admission to the Second Cycle Degree Programme is subject to assessment by a Board to ascertain the required skills and competencies through analysis of the curriculum and a possible interview. The Board, appointed by the Degree Programme Board, will establish a calendar for the interviews, which will be published on the University website. If the Board considers the Candidates' level of knowledge and skills to be satisfactory, graduates will be allowed to enrol in a test to assess their personal competencies and skills. If considered necessary, the Board can establish differentiated curricula based on the Student's previous University curriculum and according to the institutional regulation. For those who hold a foreign title, the Commission shall review/ assess the knowledge and skills of the applicant based on previous career. Assessment of basic knowledge The Assessment of adequacy of the applicant's background will be accomplished through the following schemes: - at least score 92/110 (up to A.A. 2011/12 with minimum score 85/110) Alternatively - at least the following CFU credits in the following subject areas: CHIM/07 (at least 6); FIS/01 (at least 12); MAT/03 (at least 6); MAT/05 (at least 12); MAT/07 (at least 6), ING-INF/05 (at least 6); ING-IND/31 (at least 15); ING-IND/32 (at least 9); ING-IND/33 (at least 21); ING-INF/07 (at least 9); ING-IND/10 (at least 6); ING-IND/13 (at least 6); ICAR/08 (at least 6); ING-INF/01 (at least 6); ING-INF/04 (at least 6). - assessment of previous career and possible interview. In absence of the possession of the Degree and / or the minimum required score and / or of the credits listed above and / or in the presence of a foreign Degree mark non-convertible with respect to ECTS, the Commission shall review the adequacy of preparation through analysis of the curriculum and a possible interview. The Degree Programme Board will also provide a special session for international students and the appointment of a Board for the assessment of personal preparation, consistent with the time scale relevant to the assignment of the scholarships and the pre-inscription ministerial procedures. Assessment of knowledge and language skills The Second Cycle degree in Electrical Engineering is divided into the curricula Electric Power Engineering in Italian and Electrical Engineering in English. For access to the Second Cycle Degree in Electrical Engineering the assessment of the knowledge and skills compliant with English language level B1 is required. The knowledge and language skills of level B1 is considered accomplished for students in possession of the corresponding language certification. In the case of linguistic competence lower than B1 Level, the degree board can foresee that the student has to fill an early deficit, with anticipation of the prerequisites of the suitability B1 compared to the examinations of the second year. For access to the curriculum Electrical Engineering is expected the assessment of the knowledge and skills in English language level B2. The assessment of knowledge and language skills at level B2 is considered paid in respect of students in possession of the corresponding language certification. Otherwise, English proficiency of the candidate is assessed by a Commission nominated by the Degree Programme Board. Whenever English knowledge is not evaluated as adequate, the Degree Programme Board may require students to fill the gap before registering any exam of the second year. [-]
