Master's Degree Programme in Learning, Teaching and Counselling in Intercultural Context consists of altogether 120 ECTS divided into orientation studies and content studies related adult education and counseling, as well as primary education, special (inclusive) education and education of science. The curriculum of the programme has a global focus and is not limited to one particular research or study field related to education. Master in Early Language Education for Intercultural Communication

The two-year International Master's Degree Programme in Early Language Education for Intercultural Communication (120 ECTS) prepares students to teach foreign languages to children. Special emphasis is laid on early age intercultural communication competence. The overall number of available study places is 10.

The general strength of the programme is generated by its didactics and methodology relying upon a balanced combination of theory and practice to be used in a future work as a teacher or educator. The programme facilitates gaining a multicultural view on educational issues and sharing personal/collective experience in intercultural settings. The programme prepares its students to effectively tackle challenges and possibilities arising from the globalisation, as well as cultural and linguistic diversity. The curriculum is composed of the following three study modules: ORIENTATION STUDIES (6 ECTS) This section includes introductory courses that provide students with skills needed for starting his/her studies in the University of Eastern Finland and this particular programme. MAJOR STUDIES (90 ECTS) Major Studies include methodological studies, as well as research planning seminars. This module includes as well courses focusing on international professional communication. The content studies are oriented towards theory and practice of teaching foreign languages to young learners, current pedagogical and educational issues, innovative pedagogical solutions, as well as teaching and professional practice.
