Development studies

A masters is the first level of graduate coursework and can be obtained after you receive a bachelor’s degree. Earning a masters usually requires two years of full-time study, which amounts to 36 to 54 semester credits.

 

Development Studies is a vibrant field concerned with processes of change such as social and economic, political and cultural and the major policy challenges that present the efforts to overcome poverty and insecurity. The program provides a stable interdisciplinary social science formation and develops students’ capacities for independent and critical inquiry.

Hungary is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It is situated in the Carpathian Basin and is bordered by Slovakia to the north, Ukraine and Romania to the east, Serbia and Croatia to the south, Slovenia to the southwest and Austria to the west.

The International Economy and Business (IEB) program is a two-year, English-language Master’s program which has been ranked at No.4 by Bestmasters.com. It aims to make students master the most important competences in economics and business studies. We are looking forward to receiving applications from students who are interested in international business and/or economic studies and who wish to gain both practical skills and theoretical knowledge once they have completed their studies. The program has an interdisciplinary structure: the courses cover fields from international business/economics to international politics. After the foundation courses in the first year, students specialize in the second year in International Economic Analysis or in Comparative European Economic and Business Studies or in International Development. The program lists students with different cultural backgrounds and, therefore, offers an international atmosphere. Attached to the programme we also offer Double Degree options (spending the first year in Budapest the second abroad and obtaining two degrees during only two years of study) of studying in Europe at the University of Groningen or in Australia studying at the University of Adelaide or the University of Perth. Joint European Master in Comparative Local Development (2 years, 120 ECTS) The Corvinus University of Budapest (Hungary), coordinator, the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), the University of Regensburg (Germany) and the University of Trento (Italy) in collaboration with the Russian State Social University (Russia), the University of Belgrade (Serbia), the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA) and the Tshwane University of Technology (South Africa) with the support of European Commission, offer a Joint Master’s course degree. Master CoDe main objective is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for introducing, supporting and coordinating processes of change and transformation at local level. The focus of the program is local development, with the following characteristics: public, private and non governmental actors are the fundamental agents; social stability and economic prosperity are pursued, in conformity with the European standards and best practices. The general approach is comparative and interdisciplinary.
