Structure Before you are admitted to the master programme MADTech, you will draw up a broad outline of the artistic research you want to carry out. What is it that fascinates you about art and technology? What experiments would you like to carry out? During the admissions procedure you will discuss your ideas with us. Once admitted, your ideas form the start of the next two years. The first year of this master programme is mostly about exploring your chosen field. You will carry out your own experiments, tinker with new technology during creative programming and explore research possibilities in art practices. This is how you will improve your skills and knowledge, getting to know the art practice, creating new concepts and finding out the possibilities of artistic technology research. In your first year you will spend a lot of time in Hybrid Arts Lab, where you will devise and carry out your own experiments. In addition you will attend theory and research courses at the University of Groningen and take part in a joint research course 'Image & Experience in a technologically charged society' with master students of the University of Groningen. There is also plenty of time to discuss the results of experiments, workshops, research projects and your own progress with fellow students, experts and public. Methodology and structure: Objective of the course is teaching first the design methodology that, by analyzing the codes of expression and conduct of the contemporary consumer, the identity of the customer, current trends in design and materials technology, allows students to capture an important wealth of experience. Students learn to create their own expressive language and to include in it, enhancing it, their creativity. They are taught to create project layout particularly accurate in the colors, materials, finishes, lighting effects, that can offer new sensory and emotional experiences. The Specializing Master in Color Design and Technology aims to provide advanced training to professionals, so as to enable them to understand and manage the many technological and design issues, often across many disciplinary areas, typical of all those professional and research sectors in which the use and management of color are essential. Examples of such production areas include industrial product design, interior architecture, communication, fashion, entertainment and urban planning. Particular attention will be paid to analyzing and summarizing utilization, control, ideation, organization and planning through the use of color. Consequently, color is not treated as a simple attribute of objects or surfaces, but as a means of expression and design underlying perception and interaction with reality. The Specializing Master consists of two phases. The theory and technique based phase aims to train students in the technical aspects of measurement, control, digital reproduction and comparison relating to disciplines such as physics, optics, colorimetry, chemistry, psychology and perception. The second phase focuses on the methods learned, which will be contextualized and experimented with in different color application and design areas such as interior design, urban spaces, industrial products, fashion and communication. Professional Outcomes The Specializing Master aims to produce an innovative professional figure, widely in demand by the market, with advanced technical and design skills concerning color use and control and color design in research and in several sectors such as interior design, urban planning, industrial product design, fashion design and communication.
