The decorative arts refer to the design and manufacture of aesthetically pleasing, yet functional, objects. The elements of the decorative arts are often seen in interior design. Because the items created through decorative arts are functional in nature, this field of study is different from fine art, which produces beauty for beauty's sake alone.
